Album Art
A discussion in another thread brought this thread up. I believe we have talked about this before .
I miss the days of great album covers that accented the music .
Queen, Nugent, AC/DC,etc...
There seem to be more great example in the 1970s than any other decade FOR ME.
What album covers stick with YOU ?
I have the Queen gatefold (outside and inside) framed on my living room wall. That has always stuck with me as an incredible album cover.
It seems that no one puts as much effort into album art anymore as the artists did in the 1970s.
Nugent's Weekend Warriors is another:
AC/DC's If You Want Blood, You Got It :
DLR Eat'em And Smile:
I have to teach some youngsters I know how to properly LISTEN to music. To sit there with little more than the album art in hand and ABSORB all of the righteousness that was intended.
Luckily we still have our old albums to instill these important lessons upon the young.
How many of you long for the effort that bands took years ago instead of getting a computer generated generic band photo as a sorry excuse for album art ?

The cover art was done by surrealist artist

WELCOME TO THE wrecking ball, as administered by Steve Stevens and his Atomic Playboys that is. When talking guitar maestros this gentleman is at the top of his game – right up there with shredding companions such as Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, Paul Gilbert and Joe Satriani. With looks that kill Stevens made a huge impression during the 80s as the guitar playing foil to former British punk rocker Billy Idol, crafting a style that would grant him leave of absence to form the Atomic Playboys. ‘Discovered’ by Montrose and Van Halen producer Ted Templeman, who signed him to a deal with Warner Brothers Records, Steve was allowed to record his debut album over a two year period such was their belief in his talent. Enlisting vocalist Parramore McCarty from Warrior and drummer Thommy Price who had played with Joan Jett and Billy Idol, the music is strictly high performance rock, performed ferociously with little in the way of apology. Originally issued in 1989 and expertly produced by Beau Hill (Ratt, Winger), Stevens crafted an impressive guitar fuelled album that sounds as fresh and bright today as it did back then. Tracks such as ‘Crackdown’, ‘Atomic Playboys’, ‘Pet The Hot Kitty’ and a cover of the Sweet classic ‘Action’ propels this record into the red zone and beyond. Special Deluxe Collector’s Edition, fully remastered sound shaped from 24 BIT digital technology, 2 Bonus tracks, 16 page full colour booklet, 3,500 word essay, enhanced artwork, unseen photos and new interview with Steve Stevens. TRACK LISTING: 1. ATOMIC PLAYBOYS 2. POWER OF SUGGESTION 3. ACTION 4. DESPERATE HEART 5. SOUL ON ICE 6. CRACKDOWN 7. PET THE HOT KITTY 8. EVENING EYE 9. WOMAN OF 1,000 YEARS 10. RUN ACROSS DESERT SANDS (Instrumental) 11. SLIPPING INTO FICTION BONUS TRACKS: 12. WARM FEMALE (JAPAN ONLY BONUS TRACK) 13. ACTION (PROMO REMIX)

Re: Album Art
Always like looking for the "easter eggs" on the IM covers...previous song references, Mickey Mouse, Kilroy etc
Now, probably my favourite album and great cover too!

Thommy Price was the drummer for the very excellent Scandal and played on The Warrior album. He moved on to Billy Idol where he obviously worked with Steve and was included in The Playboys.metatron wrote:Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys.
