That's crapola! That was beautiful architecture turned into run of the mill shit that you see everywhere... Imagine Greenwich & Soho gone? That would be destroying some of the funkiest parts of NY, real character in those places.. Heritage needs to be left in tact...

Seeing pen pushes destroy art like that makes me furies. It will never be replaced. I love my technology, but no technology replaces building like that. I was at a party the other day & could hear these people talking about the Apple iPhone & how great technology is. I said to them, 'You know what was great, as a kid, I'd get A2 milk at school for free. The bread, milk, newspaper, fruit, soft drinks & ice cream would be delivered to your home at not extra cost. And the big one, Doctors would visit you at home...Now that was technology. The people just looked & me & all nodded. No come backs.
As things stand, the world has lost it way. Stop this heap of spinning shit, I want to get off.
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.

Technology is good for fun but that's about it.
Can someone really fill me in on what the 4S does that the 4 can't? Other than being packaged with software not available to the 4that it could probably do anyway? I dual core in a phone???? WHat the hell for?
I'd be happy if i still had my black/white nokia from 10 yrs ago. It worked....probably better than my shit nokia now.
Breakthroughs in medicine are always welcome but other than that, i would be happy trotting around on horse back

I'm with you Dannii, technology has accelerated everything and the world is in 5th gear at all times now... Customer Service is dead & buried & your lucky to get Good service in some retail outlets. Development is also still moving quickly and all of our cities will eventually look like Hong Kong & Tokyo as real estate space values rise and the supply will eventually diminish & demand will continue to increase... The only solution is to build more Skyscrapers... More & more old buildings are being torn down in my City of Brisbane to make way for them...the Central Business District is now expanding into the surrounding suburb of the Valley as space is so scarce in the CBD of Brisbane...The Festival Hall which was a very famous live music venue in the heart of the city and an institution amongst our people was sold to developers and turned into Apartments. The Beatles performed at this venue in 1964...we are destroying our History.

It's all moving & changing so quickly & if you keep your eyes closed for too long then you'll get left behind wondering where you are...

Yes, it was such a departure it was simple to move the building talk to it's own thread. I just split the posts.

Sometimes when the thread wanders from topic it's a bit messy to clean it up with talk cross threading but when it's easy enough I move it to a more appropriate place and give it it's own thread. Standard mod stuff. :D

Shame I won't ever get to see the buildings of olde... although I'm losing my NYC virginity this Sunday! I've also just found out that my hotel, according to google maps, is a 2 minute walk to 48th St (Rudy's Music) - I'm on the lookout for a US Strat (unless a nice Charvel/Jackson can tempt me).

I remember Poserdude shared a link about a kiss fan who did a "Kiss NY tour"...would be great to replicate that, but doubt my girlfriend would share the same enthusiasm! Hopefully those buildings will last long enough for me to check out in the future

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure to check them out - although from what I've seen they all have humbuckers? I'm feeling the lurve for a bit of single coil stratty action at the moment, but I'll try a few and see how I get on

I never drink tap water. I've got a 5 stage reverse osmosis system. That's the only water I drink from. Or Noble's Pureau®. My theory is, would you wash your car with a dirty rag, then why drink dirty water. Yer, I'm up myself. :D

Go to 10 E. 23rd Street. Where it all began. There is a park across the street where you can sit, marinate , and enjoy.
The corner of 23rd and 8th is where the Dressed To Kill photo shoot took place.

Have a great time. Get some Ray's Famous Pizza for me !!!

8th and 23rd is chelsea. I lived on 21st between 8th and 7th for for a while (gay center). I did not know that was where dressed to kill was shot. I know a lot of Peter Criss landmarks from Brooklyn but I never thought about Dressed to kill. Sorry but Rays Pizza is gross. all i can think about is seeing old pie sitting out waiting to be re-heated and always got one with broccoli on it. Marios on Arthur Ave in the Bronx's Little Italy and Lombardi's in manhattans little italy along with John's on Bleeker are my favourites.
I always figured dressed to kill was somewhere in the village near to electric lady studios.

My wife and I went to NYC back in June. A friend of hers was working there that week so she let us stay at the hotel for free. Needless to say I hit some KISS landmarks... below is me in the hallway where KISS took their first promo shot in the 10 E. 23rd St. loft back in '73 and the second pic is the corner of 23rd and 8th for the DTK shoot. I actually went to the loft back in 2005 but didn't get any pics. The opposite side of the loft is now a comic book store. And yes, we did sit across the street and marinate in the park... 8)

Notice the same pipes in the background and stair rails... those stairs felt like they were ready to fall at any moment:
