Momma and I went to see Knights in Satan's Service Tonight
Re: Momma and I went to see Knights in Satan's Service Tonig
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.

Re: Momma and I went to see Knights in Satan's Service Tonig
The following is a brief recap:
Show advertised as a 7:30 start time but started at 8 pm
Eric Singer played and sang well!
Paul sang better than expected because of the slower less strained acoustic format
Gene sang well and played bass very solid! Gene also played a Carvin Acoustic Bass which I found odd. Didn't Cort recently discontinue the Gene Simmons Signature Series? No more Cort Axe or Punisher Basses?
Tommy Thayer once again played Ace Frehley licks better than Ace Frehley but he really sounded pedestrian in his playing. This guy irritates me in that what is his real style? What does he really play like when not aping Ace?
Surprises:
Newest Song in the set list was Hide Your Heart
World Without Heroes - Tommy played the solo rather than Paul which is odd in that this is one of Paul's Signature Solo's
Love Her All I Can - I was thinking about Fred Bauer's how to play video
The Led Zeppelin medley was quite surprising and Kiss seemed to be enjoying themselves doing it especially Paul.
The Mountain Song Mississippi Queen was different!
Plaster Caster, See You Tonight and Take Me we deeper songs in the catalog that got dusted off here.
For fans that prefer 1970's Kiss I'm sure that they were really pleased with the set list but frankly my favorite Kiss is from 1980 to 1995. Vincent, St. John and Kulick Era's and sadly there was only one song from this 15 year span "Hide Your Heart"
There was no encore!
San Manuel Casino is one of the sponsors of LA Kiss Football and there we some team members at the concert signing autographs. Rumor has it that Kiss had to perform this concert as part of the football team sponsorship agreement. Paul emphasized several times that this was a special concert and that he didn't expect that they would ever do anything like this again. (I assume that he mean't and acoustic club show?)
The loyal crowd seemed to really enjoy themselves as did my wife. What do they say? "Happy Wife Happy Life"

Did Singer sing Mississippi Queen?

Sounds like you two had an great night.
I feel your pain as far as, 'frankly my favorite Kiss is from 1980 to 1995. Vincent, St. John and Kulick Era's and sadly there was only one song'
I went to a smaller KISS Concert (with makeup) may years ago at the Enmore (Vic might remember it) & it was very similar track listing to the night you just had. I can't say I was over the moon about it.
Sort of like an orgy at the old folks home.

Wow, you went to the Enmore show Dannii? Cool, I had forgotten about that one as I just couldn't go.
Looks like you had a good time Kev.
When did you last see Kiss do a full makeup show? Was it hard to get tickets to this one? What made you want to go?

Last Time that I saw Kiss Live was with Ace at Irvine Meadows during the reunion tour so I'm guessing that was November of 1996? 1997?
Tickets were hard to get
San Manuel Casino is a customer of mine (Food and Paper Supplies) so I like to support their events (concerts and boxing) because they support my dying ass
The event was advertised as discussion and acoustic event which fascinated me and plus as you can see it has been a LONG TIME since I have forked out the money to see them. They did very little talking however.........

Great review slayer... I always thought it was weird that Gene had Cort build his bass's after runs with high profile US builders over the years. Not that Cort cant build a decent guitar they have made more guitars that most companys and have built a lot of name brand Korean Indochina lines for them. I know a few of his lines with builders didn't sell well or had low number runs, that my have been it.
Guitars good, drugs booze.. bad
