Most def Reason To Live... killer solo too. I'm not a fan of Forever or any of Paul's boring, sappy ballads after it.

I feel like chorus of reason to live is on edge of being poor but rest of the song saves it. I am not a fan of forever too much.

KD was my best man !!!!

Actually "Mandocello" was one of the songs I wanted to dance to. (The EX threw in, "The Flame" too) :?

Our main wedding song was ,"In Spite Of Ourselves" by John Prine.

We saw John and Iris perform this on Conan O'Brian's show a few weeks into dating and joked that it was a perfect wedding song.
She ended up letting go.

I'm not really one for a lot of 80's ballad's, they beat the formula into the ground with a sledge by 1991 or so and they got progressively more boring and predictable. Anyway, of the two I would have to pick Reason To Live. Mostly for Kulick's guitar work. Which by the way he had some great moments on Crazy Nights (see: No No No). HITS I can't stand to listen to whatsoever. That record is a pile and a half man. Forever is a good song for what it is, I wouldn't necessarily turn off the radio if it came on. My main issue with it is it sounds EXACTLY like you would expect it to.

Kulick sounded and played poorly. Asylum and crazy nights had some great bk moments. Surely bk was either not playing on hits or was heavily controlled or just off form for some reason. To me he tends to be a bit boring and a copy but actually some pretty good solos the more I check back. Crazy crazy nights and tears are falling were great commercial solos too

Asylum has the distinction of being one of only 3 albums I've winged out a car window after listening to it. Kulick is far from one of my favorite guitar players, but I agree he managed to throw out some shining moments on those albums. Which are, by the way, aren't even albums I particularly like aside from a few songs. It's no secret HITS is essentially the demo's they had done just mastered slightly better and thrown out as an album. I think a lot of it is just unfinished. It probably gets my vote hands down for worst Kiss album though. Regurgitated filler pap.

They were throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks.
Remember also that they were PAID for each song on that album .
I would fight for a double album each time the record company wanted a release. PAY ME.

I bought the vinyl and liked it. The Elder was finally re-released here around the same time and I got that as well.

I donĀ“t know why, but I guess I prefer "Forever", as it is by far the more complex composition. The arrangement, guitar solo and the difficult singing, let me range this song above "Reason To Live" - which is a fine song though!

Yes forever is classier and more layers but i hate it. I liked the drums from memory though.
