Phil was like Peter Criss for them, essential to their signature sound.

I think they have the same problem with Phil like KISS with Peter and Ace.
But KISS with Peter sounds totally different and so they need Phil for the straight drum sound

Yes, Phil is being a problem for them now, they will probably tour without him again.

I saw them in 91 with Chris Slade, he did a good job.

Chris is ok, but ACDC sounded very different to me...my opinion...In KISS Eric Singer is doin' a great job but the old songs are so different to hear with him

I concur. I love the Scott era stuff mostly, but dig em up until Fly On The Wall. You can only make the same album so many times though.

Here's the story on these photos that occurred on the Stiff Upper Lip Tour:
My friend Tony and I always " FIND A WAY" backstage before and after a show. After the show and having no luck bumping into anyone from the band, we started to leave The Civic Arena. On the way to our vehicle, we spotted a bus which I immediately dismissed to Tony as a CREW bus. As we crossed the street in front of the bus, we saw Malcolm sitting in the front. We simply waved and he held up his finger asking us to wait a second. To our disbelief, he stepped off the bus and thanked us for coming and was as pleasant and as friendly as could be while signing autographs and posing for photos. We met Brady Bloom (who took these photos). Brady was dressed in his best Angus get-up.We said our goodbyes to Malcolm as he got back on the bus. There were a handful of us who were high-fiving and celebrating how cool Malcolm was to greet us when the unexpected occurred for a second time within ten minutes... ... Angus steps off the bus and was as gracious as his brother. He answered my questions about his yet to be released Gibson signature guitar and he even drew his caricature next to his autograph for Brady on special request. There was no meet and greet fee, NO BULL , no egos. These fellas were raised properly .There was only appreciation from all sides on this glorious moment in time that lasted less than 20 minutes.Prayers for Malcolm and Angus and all in the AC/DC camp.
ALL HAIL AC/DC !!!!

P.S.- Little did I know at that moment that I would be working for a band (Sinomatic-Youngstown, Ohio) that opened for AC/DC later in the tour.
Again, AC/DC treated us well and APPRECIATED our efforts. CLASS !

I have also been lucky enough to meet Malcolm at FTATR tour 1982 Birmingham NEC. He was very unassuming as he looked like a roadie and was left alone, but my friend recognised him. Couldn't believe how small he was, but he was excellent company and happy to chat with fans like us regarding the new album and tour. he warned us about the cannons being VERY loud. He wasn't wrong!
I was very upset to hear of his illness, he didn't deserve this.

Nobody deserves it, it's an unfortunate bcc hazard of getting older but he's not even that old.
