Thanks! Had me stumped for a bit as I couldn't see gold listed as one of the original fusion colours but Vic has re-assured me that it's kosher. Besides, I think it looks great tooposerboy71 wrote:I love that paint !!!
Give me 30 years to practise that one! Need to get some string lock screws for it as the current ones are goosed. Still waiting for approval on JCF so I know which ones to get although I could just get some general ones and hope for the best.Genebaby wrote:Very nice Nick, good score!! Thanks, although there are a few battle scars here and there, luckily they're on the rear and out of sightshramiac wrote:Cool! That's in great nic for a 20 year old guitar. Geez it's in great nic for a 2 year old guitar!!

Everything to do wit the Trem on that is Schaller parts, so you will want some genuine Schaller ones from whoever can order them in for you.
Don't put anything but Schaller replacement parts on that baby.

Hi babes!
Just to let you know, I'm having the Charvel loaded with a Bare Knuckle 'Pain Killer' bridge humbucker - can't wait! No point in pics, cos it'll look the same! Not a fan of the single rails though... any ideas?

Re: Post Pictures of Your Charvel Axes Here! :o)
Ha. Each Ritz I ever played was totally different in sound and playability. Some better than others, I think the WRC was more uniform in sound. The Ritz were really just experiments and Wayne had a lot of exotic wood and pick ups sent to him when he was a Gibson to test out. He took all the stuff with him for Ritz. Very few Ritz are made with the same body wood or pick ups. He was putting shell over burbinga, coco bolo and even birds eye maple. I think that Alder was the most common body wood but maybe like 3 or 4.
Bye Bye
Re: Post Pictures of Your Charvel Axes Here! :o)
FFS, guitars are an addiction. Some of you may remember me mentioning a Strat I bought in NY before christmas. Well, I also had my eye on another guitar but ultimately the strat won me over. Thing is (and I do really love the strat) I have been thinking about the other guitar ever since I got back, but couldn't justify buying another one so soon. Well, thank god for this flowchart:
Following this rationale , I took the plunge and ordered this yesterday...and it arrived this evening!(store photo only atm, too dark to take a good pic)
A maple ode to Jake E lee - It's a MIJ so-cal. Initial thoughts after 2 hours playtime is that it kicks serious ass, the neck is incredible (has an unfinished feel/look to it) and the fretwork is top drawer. The only annoying thing is that the store strung it on 9s...who the hell puts 9s on a super strat!?!
One day I'll take a group pic of all my axes together.

Excellent Nick!!!
So many guitars come with 9's, it's pretty standard it seems.
There is one of those on Aussie Ebay right now I have been watching, but I think I prefer the San Dimas model without the pick guard, though I do like the pickups on this model for something different.

Thanks Vic
For some reason I just can't get on with 9s at all... when picking at speed on a single string it just doesn't snap back nicely like 10+'s do if you know what I mean. Although fretting seems to be effortless - can't win!
As for choosing a San Dimas over the So-Cal, I say buy both

I've never heard of strings like that, interesting idea. Would help with the tone for sure.
I like the feel of 10's all over, 9's are just that little bit too thin.

That's too much info. I can't read all that. By the time I've gone through every option, I could have brought another guitar or five.
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.

Picked up a model 4. Needs the electrics and hardware looking at, but otherwise in quite good condition! Excuse the mess and bad pic

Re: Post Pictures of Your Charvel Axes Here! :o)
From the looks of this the 2016 Mexican made Charvels are not too shabby!
These differ in a big way with having the Floyd recessed, the 3-way switch instead of my preferred 3-way toggle, a tone knob, and a very easily accessible truss rod adjuster (which is my favourite part).

Which for me know negates much of the need for "custom pickups". AxeFX and Bias as well as others, can now replicate sounds so well, the allure of a custom P/U has just gone out the window.
Vai was showing off his new P/Us on the new "Dino brown" JEM a couple of days ago from his home studio. There behind him was a lovely set of shelves with neatly laid out Carvin heads but what was he plugged into..........an AxeFX.
