Tony, what would it be like if the body wasn't thickened?

After the rountings been done it would be too thin as i need to house battery and electronics as well as the light board all inside. The LP Jr ends up 50mm thick so about the same as a regular Les Paul.Genebaby wrote:Tony, what would it be like if the body wasn't thickened?

Ah, gotcha. Could a regular LP get away without being thickened?

All LP Jrs are thinner Gibo or Epi so its needed on both, the UFO's differ they dont need the mod as the body is thick enough.Genebaby wrote:Ah, gotcha. Could a regular LP get away without being thickened?
Here's the bodywork nearly done.

Im wondering if a LP Standard could get away without thickening the body.
I always wondered why Ace didn't use a Standard or Custom for the build.

Flashers have to be a flat body guitar, the UFO's are an arch body.Genebaby wrote:Im wondering if a LP Standard could get away without thickening the body.

Ok, so you couldn't route away the carved top and work with that?
I had actually never realised that about the flasher. I wondered why Ace had a guitar with dots.

The pup area ends up higher than the perimeter of the guitar and the flat plastic face wont fit.Genebaby wrote:Ok, so you couldn't route away the carved top and work with that?

Ok, gotcha. Only flat top LP models.
I would do it to a Gibson too. I may keep an eye out.

Awesome

I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.
