So tonight I bought another Charvel.
For some reason this one, like the Flame Up, called to m.

Before anyone says anything, the plan is that this one will replace the black Japanese one I bought previously. Then balance will be restored.

It is a little crazy considering how little I play guitar these days, but it will be fun to set it up. I may swap out the bridge pickup at the same time, maybe with a Custom.

What is the story with the black Japanese one and why do you say replace?

BTW - This is beautiful and as you know I love Charvels!

I'm replacing it to maintain current numbers rather than letting them grow.

Some people prefer the Japanese necks, and they are nice. I do like it but them I play the USA Flame Up and I just prefer the feel of that one, so I've been on the casual lookout for another USA and then this popped up.

I do kinda like red too.

Yes, that's the plan. It could also have used a pickup swap at the bridge, I really like the Doug Aldrich Surh that the Flame Up came with when I got it.

Apparently the new Charvel has been posted, so hopefully I'll have it soon.

I just bought ( still making payments ) a Japanese Charvel San Dimas that has the exact specs as the guitar above for $375. The benefits of a buddy owning a music store.

Nice Rickster! I was checking out the red and the white when I was getting the black one. That's a killer deal you got there! They are made in Mexico now since the Japanese plant shut down and now they have recessed Floyds, which doesn't bother me either way really, just another change.

Mine is Candy Red, it looks to be metallic as well.

If they are made there, then I assume it'll be in the same factory that makes the Fenders too?

Interesting that the Indian Jackson factory closed a year ago and those models are being made in Indonesia now! Wonder if the Charvels will end up there too?

I wonder how many factories there are in Indonesia though? They make the cheapies and the Premium Ibanez lines, the Wasburn Parallaxe line (cool looking git boxes....neck-through or Stephen's cutaway!!! AND a 29 fret version! ), Rick Hanes (ie: Mr Bickley) and the Jacksons...........

Yes, Fender have used their Mexican factory to continue this line of guitars which started in the US.

The Japanese ones are very nice and also came with great cases, one of which I also got for my Flame Up.

Ha ha, mine live in their cases, save the one or two I have out for easy access.

I'm not sure what I am getting with this new red one. If it needs a case it will get the black ones case.

I offered it to an old band mate and he got it for his brother so it's still in the family.

Ha ha, I get them delivered to work so they get delivered and not held up by an attempted delivery. The black one, which was just sold, was delivered to work but I happened to be away that day so I went in and got it, lol.
