Vinnie Frankenstein Charvel
Vinnie Frankenstein Charvel
This story with Eddie Van Halen's true ? what do you think of this guitar ?,I particularly like frankenstein guitars, that's Vinnie seemed to have a very unique sound.
Re: Vinnie Frankenstein Charvel
I don't know. I smell bull crap. The pink Rhoads guitars are not legit so I don't believe what he says on this one.
And the original, original strings? Please.....

There is a black and white shot of him holding it in an old Guitar World magazine with Angus Young on the cover.
Fuck I wish I could've bought that.
Lee had a shot at it for a reasonable price and to my knowledge didn't buy it.

I'm talking shit by the way...i have no idea where they ended up? Safe I hope.

Re: Vinnie Frankenstein Charvel
Great find re the lick it up era with charvel. I believe the story as he has said it for years. I don't believe the original strings. No way. He used to break them all the time anyway. If he was using it in liu era no way about the strings.
He used that on creatures album I am pretty sure but didbt use the rr v's like he suggested. He only got those once he joined kiss publicly after creatures recording.

Re: Vinnie Frankenstein Charvel
What confuses me is why he used the other guitar man red strat more than this charvel on creatures tour.
He obviously loved the red strat more maybe?

Re: Vinnie Frankenstein Charvel
he used the black one when wearing that red jacket on the lick it up tour and the red when he wore black.
Re: Vinnie Frankenstein Charvel
Vinnie is using a prototype FRT-3 Floyd Rose on it, which is what Eddie used late 1980 (approximately) on his "unchained" guitar.
Charvel was known to carry these early Floyds. It would be interesting to know why Vinnie stuck with the non-fine tuner versions. Most artists hated them, but him and others (Brad Gillis) stuck with them when the FRT-5 "original" fine tuner versions were selling like hot cakes while major artists also switched to them.

Re: Vinnie Frankenstein Charvel
Yeah Vinnie and Brad were stand outs in the non-fine-tuning Floyd brigade. Vinnie was having new guitars made all through the 80's with that type. Not sure if he was getting new ones, or supplying them himself from his other guitars.

Here's another pic from that photoshoot with the strat.

So weird seeing Vin with other shaped guitars than V.
Well even though we don't believe something it doesn't mean it didn't happen.
