My musical history........

Post by DaBonadono »

I played in an original band called Metal Symphony of Darkness from 1997-2001. The following is a video of us that was filmed in 2001. We were the support band (with 3 others) for Yngwie Malmsteen and Lizzy Borden @ a place called Harpo's Concert Theater in Detroit, MI. The audio is from a CD we recorded in 2001 with a man named Lance Dean, who was at one time Dave Mustaine's personal assistant.

The following video is from 2009, when I played in a Megadeth tribute act called Degameth. This was filmed @ a place called The Omni in Toledo, OH.

** This is the same Vic Rattlehead that was onstage with Megadeth is 2010.

No, I played bass guitar in both bands. The guy singing in Degameth is a guy named George Hartwig. He is now fronting a national Metallica tribute band called Battery.

Thanks for watching the vids!! :) I'm currently playing in a cover band (Voyager) that plays at Sport bars on the weekends (when we have gigs). We do quite a mix from Stevie Wonder, Muse, Kajagoogoo, Kenny Loggins, KISS, Adam Lambert, David Bowie, Level 42, Queensryche, WAR, Bon Jovi, Kings of Leon, etc. We are a four piece, but we use full backing tracks with keys, horns, etc. Sound very full. Our singer played in two different bands from Perfectworld Entertainment in the Cleveland area: Disco Inferno and The Spazmatics.

Here's is some audio from Voyager. Two cover songs (1985 by Bowling for Soup / All The Small Things by Blink 182) and two originals (Power of Love, Away From You).

Yes, that is the same Vic Ratllehead that was onstage with Megadeth in 2010. He is a friend of mine. His name is Bob. He is a HUGE Megadeth fan. After he saw Degameth play, he decided to make his own Vic Rattlehead costume. He wanted to come onstage with us as Vic. He sent a picture to Dave Mustaine, and Megadeth wanted him to be a part of their show in some cities.

Wow a musician/band that loves and appreciates his fans! A clean Mustaine is a great sight to behold! Dave's just about my favourite songwriter too! 89-95 Megadeth is THE boom!!!!!! And Marty........... Nice stuff by the way Damian! It's fun to play the songs you love and have the crowd love it too! I used to do Holy Wars (eons ago!!) and the real metal dudes used to go off! (Even though I was pretty sloppy at it!!!!)

George actually admitted that Limahl from Kajagoogoo inspired that cut and color.

@ Metalron: I remember reading a Rock magazine in the 80's, and a girl wrote a letter asking if George Lynch from Dokken was in Kajagoogoo, or something similar to that. I never understood that question, but the hair styles of Lynch and members of Kajagoogoo were similar.

@ Doublev: I don't know anything about the VV / L.A. Guns fight.

Traci guns was in most of the magazines in 88 saying that v was a nasty piece of work. Phil Lewis too mentioned him being a jerk. Traci said la guns were selling more than twice the shirts at the gigs.. la guns were support act for the tour including Harpos. Supposedly vinnie pulled the plug early on their set at harpos. They said it was because the crowd were going crazy for the la guns and v was jealous.
However I asked bobby rock about it and he seemed that he said they were pissed because bobbys drums were too big and took up too much of the stage and they wanted bobby to set up after their set which of course is unreasonable for a support act. Supposedly la guns started some sort of fight with vinnie so Phil Lewis said which resulted In some sort of chace outside Harpos.
I did have it confirmed la guns were selling more shirts.
I suspect that some stuff was true from the la guns side but I think bobby rock tells the truth so maybe both sides were to blame a little but maybe v was in the right as they were headlining.
Another weird thing that bobby confirmed is that mark and Dana loved la guns and were trying to get Traci to form a band with them while they were on tour together. Phil Lewis said Traci was seriously considering it.

About 5 years ago my friend was contacted by Billy Morris (a guitarist from Cleveland, Ohio that has toured with Warrant, Kevin DuBrow and Paul Gilbert). He owned a club that featured local and national acts. He wanted the band I was playing in to open for L.A. Guns (Tracii Guns version) at a moments noticed. The Bullet Boys were the support act. When we got there, we had heard that L.A. Guns pulled out of the show at the last minute, and went drinking up the road at a place called Peabody's. I'm not sure of what the real "issue" was between LA Guns and the club.........but I would guess it to be a $$$$ thing. A friend of mine was in the parking lot with us as we were loading in, and The Bullet Boys were "loading out". He asked The Bullet Boys manager a question. He said, "Heyyyy, I love you guys. I'm a truck driver, and I can't usually go out on weeknights (this was a Tues. night). Why don't you play here on the weekends?" Their manager told him, "Because on the weekends we're playing stadiums and arenas". He said this with a straight face. I was like WTF? I had heard that Tracii Guns told The Bullet Boys that if they didn't leave the club (The Hi-Fi), that they would be kicked off their tour. The egos in the music business are just so outrageous.

I am sure la guns are not saints for sure. I think bobby rock didn't care for the la guns guys and was more with vinnie so he said . I think mark and Dana were planning there exit from vvi early on . I suppose clashes with vv and low salary was always going to lead to them moving on.
Intetesting that vv side is that crysalis missed a deadline. If that was true why did all the magazines declare the band had broken up and were finished in Sept 1988 and the label discontinued the idea to release ashes to ashes, and v failed to hire new members to keep touring.

I was always confused on why Vinnie didn't get replacements and kept the Invasion happening too!!???!! Plenty of guys out there that could have easily done the job!
