Post by syncophile42 »

Check this out, fantastic! :

You can also get the other 4 makeup'ed Kiss members either in costure or 'Dressed to Kill'.

Nearly, nearly bought one...

I see a lot of Kiss merch (official and unofficial) and I've got really bored of most of it... but a Vinnie Lego figure! That's something I have to have!

Thanks for pointing it out!

Cheers

The only thing about these custom figures is they have decal stickers on them that wear off very easily.

That's a shame but thanks for the warning... I wonder if there's a varnish you can paint over the decal?

Alot of people on Ebay do customs, and those who are really good at it do use some kind of varnish or coating over the decals. When it's done right the decals don't come off as easily. The lego batman stuff is the most ripped of all, some of those figures go for alot there are times where the body parts of the lego figure are real, but the head is not. You'd have to put the real figure, and the decal figure next to each other, and really examine them to tell the difference. If your getting a custom figure just to collect or display you should be ok as long as you don't handle it alot. People on ebay who are good at custom generally seem to list details of how they apply decals. Other times when the decals are not placed on right you can really tell cause the faces will look smeary as opposed to crisp like a real lego. If you got one I don't think you would be at too big of a loss. Just be careful how much you spend on it, cause you don't want to over pay for something that is going to easily flake. Most custom are only worth $15 tops. I wouldn't pay over that amount.

Also if you look around the net sometimes you can find custom decals you can print yourself. I'm not sure how they are made otherwise though. Someone tried to sell me a magnet figure which had a vague listing. I got my money back, and the whole deal was silly because they didn't want to refund the money cause they stated they didn't get the product back. But the delivery service proved they did right after I got my refund. They then relisted that magnet as an "action figure" A magnet is a magnet to me and should be listed that way. Back in early december I bought 1 set for my store off ebay, and it was nightmare. The bastard who sent it did not package it, and slapped a shipping label on the actual box. This set goes for a nice amount of money. Somehow the box came with only 1 big crushed corner on the bottom, also it had a piece of a sticker on it from where they bought it at a store. They didn't list that either. I'm weary of buying anything of Ebay especially these types of products.

Yeah, that's my general fear of ebay and all mail order sales. Sadly though none of the local shops on my high street sell Vinnie Vincent lego figures... I'll have to risk ebay, but I'll certainly bear your advice in mind...
