Decibel Geek Podcast - Rik Fox Part 1

Post by WizKid »

Rik Fox is a pioneer, artist, and has a unique perspective as an inside source of the rise of the American hard rock and heavy metal era of the 70s, 80s, and beyond. Rik witnessed the ascension of KISS, The New York Dolls, WASP, & Motley Crue, among others.

Part 1 of this 2 part Rik Fox special allows you to get an inside glimpse of what it was like to be in KISS' loft at 10 East 23rd Street; long before Gene Simmons was counting his millions. Listen to Rik share his memories of working in the 70's New York rock scene along with the Ramones, Dolls, and others playing gigs at CBGB's and the Fillmore East.

It was a legendary time and Rik Fox is your tour guide. I had a blast talking with Rik and think you will love hearing his recollection of a great time in rock history.

As always, GREAT JOB !!!

I wish that you eventually have visuals that appear during the podcast.
It would've been great to see Rik's costumes from yesteryear.

He certainly has the gift of the gab! :P

Those boots would have been scary to wear!
Promises made, crying in vain, all empty. Never accepting the blame and not letting go of the shame. A river of tears, as months turn to years, all wasted. On someone not willing to change. Now only a shadow remains! :(

I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.

The only KEEL alblum I haven't got into is the latest one. A bit too rock n' roll for me. I want Keel to be aggressive.

Like most metal & rock bands I always tend to prefer the 80's incarnation of the groups and the material they produced from the period is classic..

Motley Crüe
Def Leppard
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Ratt
Queensryche
Van Halen
and even Kiss to an extent did some great stuff in the 80's that eclipsed later material from the 90's and beyond...
