Howdy Y'all,
I just got back from a Kip Winger acoustic show at Ripper Owen's Tap House.

Kip does an amazing job and he still has the pipes. This was my highlight for the night. He basically nailed it like he does in this video: (Note- This is not from the show tonight)

Afterwards,I asked him about the tour when VVI opened and he said that he never spoke wth Vinnie . He only spoke to Dana and (I believe) Bobby.
How fucked up is that? TWO members of Alice's band have said that they didn't really talk with Vinnie. Was Vinnie THAT anti-social ???? Kane and Kip are very likeable guys. You would figure that being on tour with people for weeks/months there would be SOME interaction.

Winger really got the shaft...I mean, they kinda brought it on themselves by fully diving into the glam/hair-metal pool. Even with all the visual trappings of hair-metal, what most people fail to recognize is that Winger was an AMAZING group of musicians playing pop music. They just laugh it off and think of "she's only seventeen" or the ballads or Kip doing his ballet kicks.

As far as Vinnie blowing off the other bands...that's just bad business. If you want to get recommended for other tours you need to put in some face-time. Let people know you're a good guy, dependable.

I gotta admit, I always loved Headed For A Heartbreak... top notch ballad with a killer guitar solo. Kip can sing his ass off.

i saw Winger headline with Mr Big opening and also saw Winger with Kiss, Slaughter and Kix. Great band

I saw Winger with Cinderella and Bullet Boys in '88. Cinderella headlined.

Bullet Boys...whom I liked...opened the show and were dreadful. So bad I considered tossing their cassette away.

Winger...whom I wasn't a big fan of...came out and sounded amazing. I was surprised.

Cinderella...whom I liked...I couldn't tell if they were good or bad. They were WAY too loud for the venue. It was all white-noise and distortion. I could barely make out what songs they were playing. I eventually left the arena and sat outside and could make out the music better. Sounded like they put on a good show...

erg where was that Cinderella / Winger / Bulletboys show?

I liked Cinederella live. Winger always sounded good. I like Bulletboys but they didnt have too much great material like Britney Fox, just a few good tunes. I did like the cover of the OJays tune they did.

It was in Danville, Illinois at the Danville Civic Center.
I grew up in a small coal mining/corn farming town south of Danville. (Westville, IL)

Danville Civic Center was also host to an early performance of the first national Guns'N'Roses tour! Right as Welcome To The Jungle was breaking. (But I didn't get to see that one unfortunately.)
