Vinnie and Pyromania
Vinnie and Pyromania
Its been said a few times VV was very influence and into Def Leopards Pyromania.. he even tried to replicate the drum sound. Anyone hear any other influence with VV and this record?
Bye Bye
Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
I have never heard any similarities. It's a really good record and of course was mega successful, so that's a good reason to replicate it's sound right there.

Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
I would think , if anything, that Def Leppard's Hysteria would have possibly influenced the glossiness of VVI's ASG.

wasn't that cheesy ass "hey! tell your friends about uuuuuuuussssssssss" line on ASG originally meant for a def lep album?
Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
No Substitute is basically Photograph... The whole song structure, intro riff, Clean guitars with
with alotta lush voicings etc. I really like em both! Not a rip, just very "inspired by" idea. /Olle

Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
No Substitute was written before Photograph I'd guess? It's on The Warrior demo bootleg which was pre KISS.

Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
Never heard a warrior demo of substitute, are you sure? I was not a fan of the leopard drum sound but bobby said vv was obssesed by it when recording.

Sorry Andrew but I think that Dino is correct here unless you may have heard something that we haven't?doublev2 wrote:Never heard a warrior demo of substitute, are you sure? I was not a fan of the leopard drum sound but bobby said vv was obssesed by it when recording.
Re: Vinnie and Pyromania

Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
I liked the song "Me & My Wine" because of the vid but that's all I really know. My eldest bro had the 1st two DL albums and I probably listened to then when I was a kid & we shared a room but I have no memory of any songs. Next I heard of DL was the not well received Hysteria
, and I couldn't stand any of them! I was into Maiden & Dio by then and just never got into DL.

Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
The hysteria songs were played to death on mtv which killed them for me, but the older stuff is good. Can see why vv liked the production, the production of pyromania does sound a little like vvi.
Not saying its a rip off but definitely a big influence like bobby said.

Def leppard never put out a bad album til Adrenalize. They ruled in every way. Did I mention that I love Joe Elliott? <3 <3 <3

Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
Once Clark was dead, the "soul" of the band was gone. He kept the rock sound and spirit in the band and in the music. Without his influence, there was nothing to stop them from going too far with the over-produced sound and light lyrics.KissMyAss wrote:Def leppard never put out a bad album til Adrenalize. Thanks. The riff in the first song sort of sounds like Shoot U Full Of Love.

Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
Listened to Photograph and for me there's no real comparison. Lots of songs have similar structure. Big backup vocals maybe but that's about it. I'm not a big fan of the 1000 voice backup vocals!

Haha. I just feel that an influence in the production is slightly evident seen as he was telling people that's the sound he wanted as well.

Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
Does anyone know what Vinnies favorite bands are? Kiss?
Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
While in kiss he mentioned Jeff beck, led zeppelin and George Harrison as main influences. I believe Hendrix, mamas and papas, queen, Gary Moore, def leopard, holdsworth, whitesnske, van Halen have all been mentioned too. He likes a lot of 60s 70s 80s music .

Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
Good shit. You can never get enough Hendrix, Zep, Leppard, or Van Halen. If you'll excuse me. I gotta go rock out on my mic. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Re: Vinnie and Pyromania
i think actually in the UK on the Lick it up tour he got in a little trouble for answering a question on what Kiss's influences were. He said Zep, Hendrix and Beck I believe and Gene kind of felt it wasn't the new guys place to answer that. I remember Gene turned saying that those were Vinnie's influences.
