Frederic Bastiat was on the French Parliament when a chancellor(?) suggested that the homes in France should be destroyed to create jobs. Bastiat wrote his famous essay What is seen and what is not seen as a response, which contained the broken window fallacy. Government expansion through creating problems. There is a long history of leaders gaining money and power through destruction. I believe this phenomenon is also known as problem. reaction. solution. Causing problems with a profitable solution in mind.
Do not underestimate the intelligence of leaders.
Not all conspiracy theories are true, of course. Some of it is sheer entertainment. There are no religious motivations, the tyrants aims are very materialistic. Usually there are financial motivations. Personal gain.
Government is sort of like the police. There are good police, and bad police. The unfortunate reality of government is nobody has power over them. The Madison dilemma applies to government. Men are not angels.
Live life as though it is the third law; "to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." Rules apply whether we are cognizant of them or oblivious.
