commentary on kissology 3 on eric carr

Post by AceAlive1 »

wow that is some of the saddest stuff i've ever heard.

i had no idea that kiss was cut off from contact with eric and his family after they told him to get better.

it just doesnt make sense because i've heard every story about this except this one.

there was a reason for that, apparently a good one.

It seems-as stated in the book "The eric carr story" by greg prato- that Kiss wanted Eric to resign from the Kiss company, basically, they wantted him out of the band.Eric-it seems- refused to sign the papers, and ,after the stroke he suffered that left him paralyzed on one side-the family also wanted to avoid Kiss knowing that, otherwise they would have fired him wihtout needing his consent.it seems also that at the time, probably, paul knew that Eric wouldn't have survived the year.

Since nobody was there in person, i think there's a lot of things said that can't be proved, but Gary Corbett-who at the time was his closest friend and basically assisted him til his last day, together with Eric's gf- was quite sure that that is what happened.Even ace spread some rumolurs about it.

Eric's gf's seems to have forgiven gene about it.

The band wrote a complain letter to rolling stone mag accusing them of ingnoring Eric's death.

The only thing that really can be said is that the whole situation was handed very poorly by the band.

And, whatever is happened, i think that Eric family had good reasons to behave like they did,i'm sure it wasn't something based on an impulse.

Yeah I remember that....that's G&P's true character businessmen above anything else

It's been said Vinnie wasn't the same person after having dealings with them...intimating they corrupted him in essence. It's a valid arguement.

thats just fucked up. its like a team releasing a player while he's injured which is illegal in all american pro sports.

i'd love to know what eric said to his family, etc to make them cut off contact. i knew it wasnt impulse, thats what i've always heard. something happened but never knew the details. paul hinted there was something said on the commentary, but didnt know what.

terrible thing they did honestly. can you imagine what it would have been like if the internet was around 10 years earlier? shit storm central.

i have no idea behind the reasoning of them wanting to get rid of eric. he was their most complete drummer...didnt stop during songs...or whine about things like peter.........yet he was given multiple chances including the reunion.

part of me wishes he would have survived and made a full fast recovery......then joined a band with lets say ace, and two other people. woulda been funny if kiss fell on their faces due to the latter band gaining popularity

I'm sure most of that is true...What gets me is that on this very sad day Gene & Paul showed up to Eric's funeral in a chauffeured Lincoln Town Car, I was told... (but can't say it's true)...that they "were not" allowed into the funeral home to pay last respects to Eric !!! They did show up to the Church and yes some fans were there in makeup and with KISS Jackets & T-Shirts on, but everyone was quite respectful on this truly a sad day....

they came earlier and then on the day of the funeral were there but weren't very welcomed, sort of............but they were allowed in.Corbett said tha t they came at his table since they were not very welcomed at anybody else's

Please note that what i say is based on interviews and also the book i've mentioend before, so don't take it as gospel :p
Eric wanted tio play on trouble walking, but he wasn't allowed by G&P

Like I said I think the problems started when Eric complained in a British magazine (i think) that Little Ceaser wasnt going to be on HITS (and was just going to be a B side to a single. He was really pissed and went into detail (this was a few months before HITS was released. I really thought I would hear Eric has left the band the following week. I dont think they were getting on too well after that and I do remember Eric was not allowed to play on trouble walkin. It was also reported that Eric was looking to join another band.
I think emailing Bruce Kulick would be a good idea to find out what went on.
To be honest it seems pretty bad but I dont know what really happened. But I think Eric would have been out of the band even if he wasn't sick.
That said some of the HITS behind the scenes footage Eric seemed to be getting on just fine.

Who knows.

it seems that the problem arised more during the tour, especially when the new manager(larry mazer9 more or less strongly suggested to cut off the drum solo,so they could play more songs.Eric was pissed off by that-it already happened the year before- and so refused to speak with the band for a week, until Paul had a private chat with him and things went better since. You can read that in Kiss alive forever.it also seemed,.based on what you cna read there, tha t often paul was busting his balls.I bet tha t the chat was about "it's our way or the huighway".
About the songs, two off tthe "rockology2 songs could have been put on HITS, but there was a problem related to A) having two ballads on the same record and B) problerms related to the publishing. For financial reasons-and also- because of the way the band was at the time-most of the songs must have been of g&P.

Eric mentioned plans to leave the band only when ,during his sickness, rumours started to spread about him being replaced.
He even had to insist about appearing on the " Ggrnrty2", the band tried to suggest him to take care of his health, yet he stayed there for all the 12 hour shooting.

Again, all this is based from second hand, sometiems third hand news ,so ttake it wit a grain of salt.

it sdeems tha t g&P contributed to pay his medical bills and i think they at first wanted for him to take care of himself, and i think tha t was the reason they usggested hiom to not take part o f the vid,but for Eric the band was a major part of his life.I think the whole thing was caused by financial issues.

What i don't understand is why they handed things so poorly.I know tha t you have to be in the situation first hand to judge, burt even afterwards the whole thing was more or less dismissed.

They even turned down a suggestion to make a benefit concert for rasing funfds and remember eric.

Each one is different, and you make you own bed and you have to lie in it,but they could have celebrated Eric in so many ways............and many other artists have been remembered in countless forms.

To this day it seems that nobody put Paul in a corner and asked him about such issues.

i remember hearing about a tribute concert and from what i hear.....ALL living members of kiss at that point were willing to play. that would have been awesome.

i read -i think in Black diamond-that their(G&P) answer was "No, our hearts would not be in it".
