This douche is making a fun diversion and place to share thoughts into a tedious debate of who is right and who is wrong. Which is one of the things I listed as why I actually post here. If I have to fight to state my opinion, I'm out of here.

No, the record company states that. And the record companies statements were backed up by Billboard and HITS. Not to mention the airplay that people lied and said didn't occur for "Ashes To Ashes" or the airplay for "That Time of Year" and "Love Kills".

what i dont understand is how they didnt know how to market invasion....but they knew just how to market slaughter....sounds like a shaky shitty record company that slaughter shoulda been more cautious of even in light of their early success.

The first album you had the old Chrysalis people...

For All Systems Go ....there was a much larger marketing effort etc because Mike Bone (who helped break Poison) came on board to head Chrysalis. That's why the band members talk about now there was finally someone over there that new how to market "metal".

Then, by the time of Slaughter, EMI had purchased a 50% stake and later bought the rest.

John Sykes being he best of them: http://investing.businessweek.com/resea ... icker=CCMO

and if you saw the 12-12-12 concert http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry ... 3312.story

Sykes has done well for himself

So you were 15 or 16 when the album came out. Working at a record store?? I doubt it.

So really, you are basing your claim on ... nothing? That's what I thought.

So should we believe you or the Record Label and the supporting evidence that backs up what the label was saying?

I think we gotta go with the actual facts over your opinion.

BTW--did you ever take a shot at guessing when "Boyz" got on MTV in relation to how many weeks the Album had been on Billboards chart??

I concur. Of all my friends in High School who were into the whole Glam Metal/Hair Band schtick, I was the ONLY one who owned a copy of All Systems Go. In fact, I'm certain I specifically asked my local record store to order it in for me....there was no other way for me to buy this record locally.

Stick it to ya! on the other hand was marketed as if it were the 'second coming' in the various metal mags I was reading at the time. I recall Slaughter being featured in almost EVERY metal mag. Conversely, I can't say that I ever read too much about VV, if anything at all, when I was a teenager.

Do the math! I'm 40. I was 16 when the album came out in 1988. 1972-1988=16.

Correction: Oregon school. Federal program. I took an IQ test in high school, six years ago, and two years ago. Same range.

Maybe it flew over my head because you separated the sentences. A period means that you end one thought, and then begin another. "So you were 15 or 16 when the album came out" is one thought. Working at a record store??? Presumably a second thought. If you wanted to express one thought you should have said, "so you were 15 or 16 when the album came out, AND working at a record store?"

NO ONE KNEW ASG. It was an obscure album. Where the hell were you?

Sad but true most people knew the first record and mainly made fun of the look. It was never taken seriously by the kids.

In 86 the kids knew the band and boyz are gonna rock but not many kids were into it.. it was still a specialist album.

in 88 NO KIDS were talking about ASG .. maybe one or two but they were very hard to come by and mostly kiss fanatics.

But ASG was way under the radar. You can not change history and experience Brainsaw.

Who ever said it didn't peak there. Vinnie didn't have a major tour going on. There weren't major TV appearances etc.

But in reality, by June 25, they were already on their 4th or 5th shipment of the album to stores. 375,000 already out by the first of July because of reorders pouring in.

That's why in the HITS trade..... VVVi "ASG" as already at #4 in the Breakout. Ahead of Poison "Open Up and Say Ah" and other bands.

Also, why not go look at another thread that showed how far ASG flew up Billboard the first four weeks?!

I don't think you all pay attention to any of the facts.... but then weren't you the one telling us that Ace was worth $35M or whatever last night?! Wasn't that you???!

You forgot the other parts where its backed up by the much larger media push....

where its backed up because they'd already played on two high profile tours....

where its backed up because of the enormous VVI coverage in all the rock magazines ...

where its backed up by the trades etc...

Keep up the lies...you've got nothing of substance to refute the truth with.

Dear Anal Rupture,
Please quote the marketing budgets from Chrysalis and the outlets those funds were spent towards. "Big marketing push" is rather vague. I would like to see the plans and ROIs on those investments. Surely those are included in these Chrysalis press releases you quote so fervently.

I await your posting of this concrete evidence of your claims.

The push from chrysalis was mainly adds in magazines. And paid publicity to get vvi features in magazine which generally if you pay for an ad in a magazine they will give you an editorial story like vvi at magic kingdom. The only other push came from new line cinema with the freddy half hour. Having vv and mark host the ball was the best work they did but it hardly helped. That said nitro who were more obscure than vvi hosted the ball in 89.

I may be wrong, but perhaps Ashes was going to be the first single but things changed. You can pick up 12 inch promo copies of it which have a "VAS 1076" title sticker on a generic sleave, see here : http://www.musicstack.com/album/vinnie+ ... s+to+ashes

But maybe they were promos for the album.

Ashes to Ashes was the first single released to radio.

Its been explained several times but you can find it here: http://vvforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4159

Just try to ignore some people around here. They've made claim after claim that has been shot down and refuted. Like Ashes radio play, the magazine coverage, they were claiming Boyz was hardly ever played on MTV. They claimed That Time and Love Kills was only played a couple of times. Just nonsense stuff.

But again, the answers you want are at the beginning of those two threads.
