"hope" by Peter was offered to be recorded for PC, but instead they preferred that rehash of "up where we belong" by Joe cocker...........

Ace and Peter both consider themselves creative and talented AND both of them have their own fans that prefer them to Gene and Paul. It's clear that Gene and Paul do not consider either of them creative or talented.

So, you take a creative type and tell them:
1) we are not interested in your input
2) we do not like or respect your creativity
3) shut up and play what we tell you to play, how we tell you to play it and when we tell you to play it

What do you think the outcome is going to be? They're going to jump up and down and say "hurray"?!?!

No. They acted out. Ace medicated himself. Peter acted like a baby.

All they had to do was:
A) work on the songs for Psycho Circus as a group, allowing Ace and Peter to have a couple of songs whether G&P like them or not
B) let Ace and Peter have some input on the stage show and song choice

It still would've been 90% Gene and Paul. Gene and Paul would've STILL made the lions share of the millions. Ace and Peter might still be in the band.

I think Paul is mostly the one to blame for the others not getting input... especially in the 80's when Carr could never get a song or vocal on an album. Paul never cared about the 4 way Beatles mentality that Gene had.

i think ace and peter were desperate to make some money so they may have accepted they had no say in PC. It would have been cool to give Ace a few more songs and at least tried to get someone to write Peter a great tune.

They certainly signed deals giving G&P control and setting them up as employees. (And Ace and Peter honored their obligations...what a concept.) But just because G&P had full control doesn't mean they couldn't have given their employees opportunities.
I manage 17 people and I could set myself up to get all the credit, but I try to give everyone input and opportunity to have input. I'm still the boss and get paid the most and my employees are happier and willing to work harder.

I don't think anything on Cat #1 or The Keep is terrible, it's just not on the level of a top tier act.
