What do you guys think of Stryper? I saw them last year in Prague, they played really well, sounded great live. A lot of people I know seem to write them off because of the whole Christianity aspect of their music. I personally am not religious in the slightest, but I really think their music is great! I really would urge people to give them another listen, great hard rock. I love the whole image they had too

It's a little more toned down these days, but the yellow and black is still a cool look. I think if I were to order a TJ guitar sometime in the future one idea would be making it Stryper inspired in some fashion

maybe some funky yellow and black VVV hybrid.
Anyway, check this video out, it's from the gig I was at:

I love Stryper. I caught my Stryper BIBLE about 6 years ago. Their guitar tone is different than the cool nasal/ buzzsaw sound of the earlier albums but still great. They still deliver the goods !!!

They had their yellow/black Jackons in the 80's. A VVV in similar would be very cool.

I wanted to catch a Stryper bible, would make a nice bit of memorabilia from the gig. Just missed out catching one though! I'm really torn between which of their albums is my favourite, Soldiers Under Command, To Hell With The Devil, or In God We Trust, haha, they're all cool. I love their guitar tone, nice and crunchy. Mike Sweet's voice is really great for it too!

I like Stryper. Michael Sweet can sing like a mofo. I really like the "Against The Law" album.

I loved em during the Yellow Black era but didn't really like Against The Law.
BUT, i REALLY love their new yellow/black outfits on stage.
The jackets are awesome and yes, Michael is awesome.
I gotta check out their covers CD later.
....and i love the Overthe top Christian comments on youtube..some people gotta chill dude !
Alot don't like the Iron Maiden covers etc..... lol

Got to be one the best bands out there. They sound like the record...Michael Sweet insanity great voice & & shit hot guitarist...Good to see the Visual Time Keeper going off in the Video...When I saw them Last Year,,,Tim, OZ & Michael were awesome, but the Visual Time Keeper was being a little slack....Maybe he had a bee up his ass that nite. GO THE YELLOW & BLACK ATTACK!!!!

My first concert was Stryper! March 89' at Festival Hall (RIP) in Brisbane. Great gig except Oz's solo was pretty lame. Lots of noisy effects and leaning back with his mouth open!!!! Curiously, they didn't throw bibles out??? I got my ticket autographed by Oz after the show! Mikey was the star though!

Have long been a stryper fan
Soldiers under command (the CD & song) are classic IMO.
Newer stuff is spotty.
I enjoyed the Michael Sweet solo CD out in what? late 90's?

I was a big fan in the late 80's but stopped listening to them at some point...
I remember being in a book exchange/collectibles store that I used to frequent in my teens & seeing a Stryper bible for sale for around $5 back in the mid 90's...The inside cover was signed by the band... For some stupid reason I didn't buy it.. It was from their Australian Tour of early '89...cool!

BTW, The guitar Michael is playing in the video above is a Carvin. SURE, Their machines aren't big enough to make the Vinnie guitar. FUCK Carvin!!!

I've been listening to "The Covering" CD non-stop now.
It's absolutely fantastic !
Unfortunately, i think the Kiss song is the weakest on the album......it's all pretty heavy stuff!
Fav's are 'Highway Star' - Deep Purple and 'Over The Mountain' - Ozzy Osbourne

Stryper GODDAMNED ruled (oh sorry). Love To Hell With The Devil. I always thought they should've had Marvel or DC comix do a Stryper comic (inspired by the album cover) with them battling the devil...
kind of like a bumblebee rocker version of the Fantastic Four battling Dr. Doom. Damn, I'm such a geek...

after reading what the singer said about AIDS and gay people, i completely wrote off the group.
I did find it funny ,tough, when because of the lack of success, they changed their image, dumped the bible and the bumble bee outfits sayng it was not their idea, grow a beard and they were posing with fake machin guns for their record "against the law".

If he said lame shit about AIDS and gays then that is a total turnoff.
Against the law was also funny to me.

He did, on a Kerrang interview, sort of God's punishment for such behaviour. When the interviewer objected, Michael did retort" how can you say it is not"?.The interviwer did mention hemophiliac children or children of people who got the AIDS synddrome and then eh sai "welli don't have al the answers".
It's not 100% correct since i'm quoting by memory,it was in the 90's, but it was enough for me to not consider the group again.Probably he has chnaged his mind, but such idiotic statment was enough for me at the time, and i still remember it.
Sorry i didn't want to rain on anybody's parade.

Stryper are one of the best 80's bands.
I never followed the message but always found their music very up lifting and exciting to listen too. Mikes vocals and the guitar attack are truly special. I saw them twice in the 80's and was always impressed. Caught the guitar picks and the bibles !.
I met the band twice and the guys were amazing to us fans, nothing like the time I met Axl Rose !.
Soldiers under command will always be in my top 10.

This is a classic mistake young christians make.
Get a little too out spoken about things they know little about.
I don't know but I would take a guess that if you asked Michael the same question today, you wouldn't get the same answer.
Look up why "Growing Pains" tv show wound up.
Is Mike Seaver the older brother?? went New Born....telling everyone how the show gave out bad messages, show eventually stopped...later at a reunion, he apologised to every one.
(shounds like 2.5 men huh?)
