Hey guys, I ask that we refrain from using the mugshot as an avatar. It really is too sad and having it posted once (let alone the multiple times we do ) is too much.
Everyone has the right to do what they want here. Please consider it though.
This was a place that I came to daily because of the good people and the hope that when I checked in, Vinnie would do the right thing for himself and his fans.
Even if he just said "THANKS BUT NO THANKS" and didn't release music or guitars anymore and lead a quiet life, I would have seen the good in that and been satisfied.
I almost didn't want to come here today because I feel that my reasons (as well as other fans) can no longer exist.
This seems like a sad end and it is more upsetting that he had the power to turn it around and didn't
Thanks, PB71

Hang in there Rick, all of us usual suspects here at vvff that post daily really appreciate your input as a member and you as a person more so... My feel on the current state of affairs with Vinnie is that he would be Alone right now & needs the support of this forum & especially from yourself... You are honest, caring & you tell it how it is... This forum would be worse off without your contributions & if Vinnie is reading our posts (which he is) I think he would benefit from the kind words that are being posted for Vin...
I agree with the mug shot avatar being dropped... It's in poor taste..

Birnie-
I've seen at least one use the mug foto as "avatar". Remember the avatar foto analogy for you would be your weekend at Bernie's pic!!

Rick, Sorry to hear that you are feeling so down about this current situation with Vinnie. Personally I'm looking at it as a positive. At least know his problems are in the open. He doesn't need to hide any longer. There is a real possibility for him to get help. No one here is going to have a shot @ someone who is ill, mentally or otherwise. When I got really sick. I could have done two things. I could have stayed at home & eventually died in couple of days or I listened to my wife who basically dragged me to emergency & then I spent the next 3 months in hospital getting better. It's very easy to sit @ home and do nothing about my illness. I was so sick that I couldn't stand up. Could dress myself & did not eat anything for a couple of days. I was so sick that mentally I could have easily given up. But I was lucky, there was someone who force me to do otherwise, to take me to hospital. I think the same applies to Vinnie. I really believe out of all this badness that has occurred, there can be a real positive born from it. I think it's better for him to be in this current place than stewing at home, probably alone or wanting to be alone. Who know what he could have eventually done to himself or others. In my opinion, him beating his wife (as ugly as it is) is the lesser or the two evils of what would eventually taken place.

Everybody has their own perspective and they are all valid. I have to admit that I was fully expecting and watching with anticipation for who the first person to use the mug-shot as their avatar would be. It doesn't bother me that someone did it and chuckled a bit when I saw it.
I'm not trying to start a fight and understand the point of view for not using the mug-shot, but my first reaction when someone tells me "Don't do this thing because I don't like it" is to find 10 ways to do that thing.
I appreciate that it was presented in the form of a request versus a demand, though...
