What's your favorite Vinnie album/song performance ? Explain

It's a very tough question...I did pick the "other" option as I believe Invincible might be the best song the guy has ever written. I also love the old Maybe it's the rain demo.

On the other hand I was close to saying the first VVI album as Back on the streets is close to my heart and a song I've always loved. I really don't know haha...its a tough question.

Aha,

For repeat listens, over and over, i can't pass on COTN but it's not that much Vinnie is it?

Love VVI albums but the vocals really wear me down....arrggg!
Liked it when i was 17-18 but now, too waily whiney from both singers.

FAv song though, is Ashes hands down.

Guitars From Hell because his technique was even more advanced!

Lick it Up, mainly because that's where it started and I dig a tune above all else, plus I like the "restrained" Vinnie, even though he didn't think his playing on LIU was representative. I have to say that although I enjoy listening to the VV albums, those high vocals and speed at all costs get tiring. ASG is, for me, the better album of the two, as there's more variety in the guitar.

for originality the first VVI record. that has its own sound that i have never heard before or since.

ASG has some very good commercial tunes, maybe more potential radio hits and still has its own original sound most of the time.

LIU although a mess at times was for sure an amazing kiss record and unique too.

Its too hard to choose but I would say the 1st VVI record just because it was so original.

this is tough! But im going with the First VVI album because that was shis Baby. He had full control of taht one, and you can tell. Listen to how good it is! The rawness of the guitars. Great tunes.

1st. Place - LIU - It's the nucleus of his guitar playing. You can learn quite a lot from just studying his playing on that album alone.

2nd. Place - VVI - Shoot You Full Of Love / Animal / Invasion / I Wanna Be Your Victim / Boyz Are Gonna Rock / Twisted are friggin' stellar!!!
I can do without - No Substitute / Do You Wanna Make Love...because those songs just don't seem to fit the album.

3rd. COTN - Because Vinnie put those boyz back on the rock and roll map.

Forget everything else...All Systems Go is just silly....I can't listen to it...except for Ya Know' I'm Pretty Shot" (Instrumental).

Just my humble opinion on it all.

Yes, ASG can be a hard listen at times , mainly due to Mark Slaughter. Even Mark has some good moments on it though when ha actually sings and doesn't kill us with the high pitched SCREECHY shit !!

  -PB71-

I love ASG...haha. Great songs, production, Mark Slaughter sounds killer. I prefer Robert however, but Marks sounds awfully good on record.

i think its Mark's best performance. Some of the live stuff was plain awful however.

Agreed. Mark is stellar when he SINGS.

actually a mix of all three album sounds (i am including GFH) would be the perfect album to me.
I kind of look at Mark Slaughter as an ewok or jah jah. the kids like him but the hardcore fans mostly prefer Robert. I didn't mind the ewoks that much.

Doublev,
You're a NERD  :P  !!! How dare you compare Mark to anything in Star Wars!! Next you're gonna start slammin' down some Pokemon cards.  Show some restraint man !! Anyway, Robert is LUKE compared to your Ewok Mark.

-Pokemonboy of the Republic ah... I mean... -Poserboy71-

On a serious note:
I agree about a mix of the albums , but unless there is a RELEASED box set...

It's really hard to choose just one but if I had to choose I would say the VVI album. It's just so raw and it's the best album IMO.

1ST VVI------------best song might be I WANNA BE YOUR VICTIM

they might have had a hit with no substitute. That was a tough one to promote without Fleischman on board...Anyone hear when his new CD is coming out? It's been a while

Back to VVI, also like the (diverse)mix of diff song style category wise like this:
Baby O/Invasion
Back on the Streets/no substitute
Animal/Twisted
Bozy are gonna rock/Shoot U full of love/Do U wanna make love

It would be interesting to hear Suzzie Qincent(s) Fav album

'I Wanna Be Your Victim' is my favorite song off of that album. Just look at my signature. That album has everything, even tasty melodic phrasing.

I love the raw, agressive nature of the first album, the guitars and riffs are insane. I love every song.

I also appreciate ASG in how it's different and love it too, but the first is just Vinnie being no holds barred, which is fine with me.

that is a good song. that could have been a single also. i don't recall him playing it live.

wouldn't it be so amazing to see a one off vv concert where he played all these classics. too bad , it seems further away than it did a year ago.

Hi there all. First time poster. I think Lick It Up is a great album, yet the stuff on the first Invasion album is awesome. My all time fav is 'No Substitute' - a classic that's been getting a thrashing recently!

Hi Brownie, don't worry, I've noted the lack of love for No Substitute and believe you me, when I'm through with the perpetrators they will wish they had never been born!!! Why I'll......

Hang on, maybe I'll let it slide this time, but I love that song too. I love them all!!!!!! :P

there isnt a weak song on that whole album .. ASG had quite a few and the production did nothing for me .. the guitars were far to ´mooshy´for my liking

The trailer solo on No Substitute has some of the best melodic phrasing recorded on the Invasion Album.

I can't believe that there is anything but love for 'No substitute'. The debut album is flawless.

Favorite Vinnie song with KISS is either Exciter or Killer.....both songs are awesome.

If I had to choose between the Invasion album and All Systems Go, I have to go with the Invasion album because I was so pumped to get it when it came out. The guitar work is off the charts and there are so many classic tracks like 'I Wanna Be Your Victim', 'No Substitute' and 'Do You Wanna Make Love'. That's taking nothing away from ASG because that's a classic album too with a ton of great songs, I just go for the first album because that was the beginning and there are a lot of memories.

Best song on Invasion - No Substitute

Best Song on All Systems Go - That Time Of Year & Heavy Pettin' (tie)
