Former JOURNEY lead singer and songwriter Robert Fleischman - who recently signed with Winogradsky/Sobel - has announced tour dates with his new band THE SKY. The band will debut live on November 17th/18th at the Oriental Theater in Denver, Colorado.



Best known as the former lead singer of the group Journey between the albums Next and Infinity, Fleischman was with the band for about nine months in 1977, contributing his song writing skills and vocal performances, but never actually recording any albums with the band. He co-wrote one of Journey’s first charting songs 'Wheel In The Sky' (#57 Billboard), in addition to 'Anytime' and 'Winds Of March'.

The Sky is: Robert Fleischman (vocals), Andre Labelle (drums), Brady Cole (guitar), Stephan Lajaunie (guitar), Steve Barber (bass).

Very cool to see Robert and Andre out and about, recording and playing live!

I doubt we will hear the great high voice he has but, yeah great to see him back out and about !

Think he will do any material off that incredible first Invasion album?

I doubt it but it would be cool if he did.

I bet he could still pull off Substitute and make it work with his new band.

I agree No Substitute and or Invasion, I think he sang that song w/ not so much of a high voice . The song Invasion also doesn't get the credit it deserves , be cool to hear him do it live ! However, listening to his solo stuff it doesnt sound like he is to keen on the high note stuff anymore.

I hope he tastes some success with this new tour

He will never ever play some stuff from the Invasion time. If you read his interview between the lines he has no interrests on Vinnie or the past with him..

He learnt to be a pro hanging w/ the guy's in Journey but, the mesmerizing sound we have all come to know of Vinnie Vincent fucked him around ! Hope that makes sense ! lol

Any tip yet as to what genre the band's music is going to be?

To me , The Sky sounds close to an Enuff Z'Nuff vibe.

Robert was one of the reasons vv got a record deal. He is a crucial part of the vvi sound.

In my opinion Robert is one of the most intelligent and smartest guys in rock music as well as talented .

Robert has done things we don't know about, he's done well.

I read an interview with him a few years ago when he was releasing one of his solo albums. He's involved in all kinds of songwriting (both artistically and commercially) and he's partnered into a publishing company that not only handles HIS music but lots of others. The guy was smart and realized at some point the "rock star" thing wasn't going to hit the heights most dream of but parlayed his interest and skills into other related avenues that generate some good revenue, utilizes his skills/passion and allows him time to continue making his own music.
I envy the guy.

Plus he got to write/sing on one of the best metal albums of the 1980s, VVI!

He did tv commercial stuff too.
