After noticing Genebaby has a car interest, thought we'd kick of a cars thread for peeps intereseted....

OK, twist my arm, I'll start.

Used to have a 1998 Nissan Skyline (not GTR :( )
Upgraded turbo/intercooler/fuel pump/injectors/ECU/shocks
Super fun to drive.
Ended up with a tad under 250rwks.
Currently a member on www.skylinesaustralia.com, as, wait for it, Birnie.
It would do 0-100 in 5secs flat with wheel spin.
Never took it to the drag strip but similar cars/mods would do 12s.

here's a thread on my intercooler attempts :
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums ... 10032.html

Now with a baby/wife and no cash, i drive a sheet box Holden Astra.
the engine just blew costing me 4.5k
Should have stuck with rock solid Nissan :(

Post up anything you like relating to cars.
Cheers lads

Some nice pics of my Ford Falcon BA XR8. I bought it new on Dec 19 2003. Exterior has a BF front bar now, FG 19" wheels and since these shots the rear spoiler has been replaced with a bobtail one.

It's had a lot of subtle mods done to it, so if you know what a basic XR is like you'll see the differences.

Vic on behalf of your friends in America thank you for buying a Ford!

A new car section, wow!
I'm verry interessted in cars. In Germany we say the same like the Americans did: "Buy German cars than you save the jobs in the land".
So I drive a Porsche turbo and a Cayenne GTS.
In Germany we have no speed limits on highways
So you can drive verry fast 8)

this isn't my car, but a nicer version. mine is brown and i collect these these but the others are too rusty to drive. i collect any simca cars if anyone has one and also Fiat 127's. Image
some of them were so bad they had rust on them in the showroom before they were sold, but i like them. my daughter refuses to get into it. i'll post my actually ones if anyones interested. I also like Citroen SM's as well which are much better cars.

I WIN!!!!!!

http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss27 ... 1cropa.jpg

Ha ha!

Taken 2 years ago. It's changed a little since then, 4th from the left sold, another KW bought a month ago (looks almost like 2nd from left), Nissan ute on the end traded for a new model & new Mazda ute bought just a week ago.

AND that mountain (Walsh's Pyramid) in the background is real not a photoshop trick or anything! Competion every August to run up to the top and back to my town. 1 & 1/4 hours is the record. Approx 2 miles from the start to the mountain then a climb up it's 3000 foot height then back to town! Runners descend in about 15-20 minutes hoping not to trip or collide withe runners coming up! My best time is 6 days and 23 hours!!!! Ha ha ha.

So you're in the trucking business? That's a lot of nice rigs.

I would stay away from that mountain, looks like a lot of effort.

by shramiac
Trucking and agriculture fert/chemical sales! And yes F#*K climbing it! I've climbed about a 1/3 and said,"yep nice view from here"! Actually on one of the sides there is a kick arse waterfall that you can slide down into a rock pool. Just makes sure you're wearing a plastic fertilizer bag as a nappy (diaper) when you do or major rip in pants!

And Gene my brother bought a BF XR6 Turbo in 2006 just to be different, we've always been a Holden (GM) family and the local Ford dealer wasn't impressed when he told them that the speedo needs to be replaced with a calender!!!! Sounds like a 4 cylinder and was almost a slug (not that he's breaking speed laws people). That was till he spent about $2000 and got it chipped and new injectors and took the motor from the stock 330HP to 440Hp! Inside and outside still factory stock. Still sounds like a 4 cylinder! At 6'2" though, I headbutt it trying to get in.

The 6 Turbos are meant to go great, and eve better when chipped of course.

I'm a V8 kinda guy, and it's gotta be a Ford!!

GeneB, I´m a V8 Ford guy too, Runs in the family.
1990 5.0 L HO Engine, 5 speed manual tranny, 3.27 gear
in the rear. Pretty quick for what it is,.. it´s a fairly light car.
I got a renovated and souped up engine ready to go in at some point.
Full GT40 set up and 10.5-1 compression 306 engine.
Hoping to get a solid 300+ Hp to the rear wheels.
Watch out Carrera! haha,. at least in the quarter mile.

Very nice, what a beauty!

I need to change my diff ratio to about 3.73 from the 3.23, one day.....lots of things still to do.

A spare souped up engine would be nice, but I will rebuild mine tougher if the need arises. I don't drive it often anymore so it will probably last forever now!

Oh, Forgot to mention, pic above, it´s a Ford Mustang.

Yeah, I put a lotta time into cleaning it up , and it was not "quality time"-
getting the surface rust removed from the undercarrige and had all
the removable links/bars suspension bits sandblasted and pepainted.
Car is now in condition close to mint. These cars have a 2.73 rear
from the factory (to save on gas milage) but it kills the "off the line"
performance. 3.27 is just perfect for a 5.0 liter Ford HO Mustang. IMHO
It´s not a "Super Car" by any means, but it is/was the best "bank for buck" car of it´s time and still does Ok in todays competition.
Easy to work on too..
/O

I googles a little and it seems this is the engine in your Falcon, right ?

Boss 260 4-valve DOHC 5.4 L V8, 349 hp (260 kW) @ 5250 rpm, 369 lb·ft (500 N·m) @ 4000 rpm

If it is,That´s awsome, great modern Modular Ford engine that can
really rev high and has some serious low end "grunt" to boot!
Nice.

Hi again, and welcome to the Forum!

Yes, that's the engine in my car. If it dies I'll rebuild with higher comp for more power but it's going well so I won't unless it needs it.

With the gearing in mine it is better for 3.73, unless I changed the gearbox for a 6spd and then it's 4.11 that's the sweet spot.

I keep it in top condition as yourself. I remember those Mustangs well, and with the new engine it will go even faster!

Hi Rick- Poserboy71-
No, I´m not, born and raised Stockholm, Sweden actually, but I went to
college in Queens New York for a few years so there´s a bit of
US of "the A" (Borat) in Me. Love the States.
Summit always provides a bunch of those stickers whenever I order
something from them, and remember, each stickers adds another 10mph
to your top speed.......haha.
I think whenever I call Summit, I talk to their sales reps in Ohio.
I think half my engine comes from them..
The state of Ohio´s made some money off of me for sure, haha.
-Chris- Cool, those AMC/AMX cars you don´t see too many of. American Motors made those, right?
They remind me alot of the 1971-73 Mustang Mach1´s. Nice color too!
