When I was actively in my old band LIZARDS FROM AFAR and we were starting to play out, most places wanted you to do at least SOME cover songs, which we were not keen to do. So we worked up some cover songs but gave them the LIZARDS treatment. Here are some basement recordings we made.

(Sympathy For The) Devil Went Down To Georgia (Walk This Way):

This is a mash-up of Sympathy For The Devil, The Devil Went Down To Georgia & Walk This Way....kind of done as a sort-of heavy metal rap song.

Marion The Librarian:

For fans of musical theater, this is the song Marion The Librarian from the early 1900's musical The Music Man done as sort of heavy metal grunge.

Nice work and idea on the (Sympathy For The) Devil Went Down To Georgia (Walk This Way) tune. You guys sound tight.

Same for the Marion song which I'm not familiar with at all. Has a bit of a Saigon Kick vibe.

Thanks!
I wish I could take any credit for the Devil mash-up, but it was almost all the lead singer. He came in one day and explained the concept...and we all looked at him like he was F'd in the head. We tried it out and it worked. Not that we played out a ton, but when we did people really dug that one.

You GOTTA check out The Music Man! Great early 20th century theater.
Here is a youtube link to the Marion scene from the 1960's theatrical version of The Music Man here:

That's pretty librarian!! Classic musical number that one. I have grown more appreciative of those as I have gotten older.

My parents had all those old cast recording albums when I was a kid, so I grew up listening to all of that.
