He has not grown as a player at all since 1977 and it can be effectively argued that he doesn't play as well now as he did in 1977.

Ace has THE worst right hand technique! Although he was rather clean when doing the fast picking bit on the high E string!

Yer but, when they Gene & Paul got someone like VV or MSJ, they weren't happy. What's that thing that Gene refers to Mark as, 'an Angry Bee that he wants to kill'. When Ace left, he wasn't kicked out.Gene & Paul tried avoid his departure as long as they could. People were going to COTN concerts & not knowing that it was a new guitarist in the band. Gene even slags Bruce's 'technical' playing. I think Gene & Paul would have been happier just having Ace doing his slopp-mister work & not being able to take the limelight away from themselves. I remember seeing Paul band for the Live to Win tour & hearing those KISS songs done by guys who can really play. Chalk n' Cheese. If anything, Paul was the weakest link in the band. Don't think Gene & Paul want great Players in KISS. In saying that Eric Carr was great & as much as I don't like Eric Singer, he is a good drummer.

The other thing is, Gene states that they 'Audition' Player. This brings up the question, 'Well you must know what kind of Player you've 'employed' in you band cause you saw the guy play IN THE FUCK'EN AUDITION!!!!! ' Both Gene & Paul are very hypocritical. It's like me going to a Ferrari Dealer & buying a Ferrari, then going back the next day & saying, "Oh no, I don't want it cause it goes too fast'
