None of us have heard him play for 15 years and we haven't seen him live on Tour since the ASG Tour of '88 so the question beckons "Can Vinnie still Shred"?!

I know we've talked about it before but I am interested to read other forum members opinion on whether you think he's let his amazing guitar skills go to pasture or could he actually step up on a stage in 2011 and blow our minds?

I think if he could let go of his multiple Forum identities & get off his computer he could probably make most of today's guitarists cower in shame & he would definitely melt some amplifiers but does he still have the drive to achieve? Somewhere down the line the music business destroyed Vinnie Vincent the artist & forced him to submit like a UFC fighter taking down a weaker opponent... Let's hear your thoughts people, actually let Vinnie

I can only go by my own experience as one who put down the guitar for almost two years at one point and I was never a shredder, but I was defiantly not impressed with my self and had to get back to practicing daily to get the chops built back up. So if he is not playing at all I doubt the ability is still there off the cuff.

@doublev2 - Agreed, the guy loves youtube so why not a youtube video of him sitting with his dogs at his feet playing some guitar?

@1031- I'm a drummer and I haven't picked up the sticks regularly in a couple of years and when I do I absolutely am NOT the drummer I was when I was playing 3-4 nights a week and regularly jamming with my band.

I believe Vinnie's skills are refined. Vinnie isn't a one trick pony. He still plays around the house(OH ,TO BE A FLY ON THE WALL...) and plays in many styles---NOT JUST SHRED.

I still dream of a day when Vinnie releases multiple albums on the same day in different styles and shows the world what a master he is. The music world as well as the guitar community wouldn't be able to ignore him. He would be on the covers of many industry magazines.

A pleasant Vinnie in a T-shirt, blazer,boots, and jeans, with an acoustic album, bluegrass album, ballads album, rock album, metal/progressive album, etc...

Most peeps at 'that' skill level we're talking about, practice 6 hrs a day.
I always remember a quote....but can't remeber who from dammit....that went something like....

I think V can play, but nowhere near what was going on in the 80ties. I woudnt sound THAT impressive...
But, lottsa practice, sure, it´s start to improve and eventually impress again.

You are correct. When I saw this video a few years back, I was grateful that he is playing again. I don't care that it's at the corner bar. I don't judge him because he lives in a trailer park. I was happy because it seems as if for a brief moment he may have cleaned his life up a bit.

i dont think hes got jack shit... and im starting to think he hasnt got any new material either.. and all hes got is one cd full of tracks he never finished called GFH. the great pretender V.V.

He doesn't want anyone on this forum to hear anything. I really think its like good dog bad dog. He only gives his fans a treat if they are good. I know it sounds mad but I think its part of it. I think he has only gfh plus the country tunes he wrote between 89 and 96. Kelly pribble and Andre Labelle both confirmed that he was recording country songs.

I should say may give them a treat. Why he doesn't release it is beyond me. I think its a loss of power for vinnie to put it out in his mind.
