I believe he only auditioned. I don't believe he was close to getting the gig.

His daughter's hot.

Jay Jay supposedly replaced Ron Leejack for a short time in Wicked Lester (under his real name John Segall). He claims he was at the audition process in Dec. '72 and saw the way that Gene talked to Ace and knew there was no way he'd last in a band led by Gene. Gene and Paul deny him being in the band or at the auditions... so who knows.

I know that jay jay, Mendoza, Gene & Paul go way back to the early 70's so it's probable that jay jay was there...I think most people would find it difficult to work with/for Gene... Way too controlling

French would've fit in KISS well image and playing-wise. Maybe his character could've been Mean Mr. Mustard? French Toast Man? The French Fry? The Skunk? :P

He is good friends with ace. I always think of 80s guild guitars when I think of jj.

Yeash, there were two different versions of the story,JJ stated that he was part of Wicked Lester-he mentioned "she" original version in an '83 french magazine interview- but Gene and Paul said that he simply auditioned for WL,nothing more.
