KISS - UNPLUGGED 2

I think a ' KISS - UNPLUGGED 2 " is order, and to have Vinnie come out and join them for
" A MILLION TO ONE & LICK IT UP." ( I picked these 2 cuz I think they
would sound best acoustically. If they could do a version of " DANGER " that
would be strange but, somehow good Im sure ! Here is my set list, before you judge on
the sappiness of some song choices, I picked them w/ acoustics in mind !!!

-KISS UNPLUGGED 2 ( set list ) Paul / Gene / Tommy / Eric
Love Theme From Kiss
Two Timer
Love Her All I can
All The Way
Mister Speed
Charisma
Is That You

-Vinnie brought in
Danger
A million To One
Lick It up
- Vinnie exits

Crazy Nights w/ Choir
I Just Wanna
Im An Animal
Say Yeah

-Japanese version of the c.d. w/ 2 extra songs of course !
Tears Are Falling & Modern Day Delila

I'm sure if they were willing to bring in Vinnie, then Bruce, Peter and Ace would be there.

Would love to hear A Million To One acoustic though.

I love the bootleg version of the Unplugged session with all the in-between banter, goofing off and real vocals. It's so much more fun to listen to than that sterilized official version they put out.

I also disagree with the G&P philosophy that the acoustic versions have to be as faithful as possible to the original electric versions. I don't for a minute believe Paul's assertion that "all" of their songs start out on the acoustic guitar during the writing process. I think there are songs that just can't/won't work acoustically...at least without adjusting the musical composition.

On the original Unplugged, I just don't think RnRAN sounds "right" acoustic using the electric arrangement like they did.

A song I would love to hear an acoustic version with a choir and string accompaniment: Reason To Live

There would be nothing special about having Bruce, Ace & Peter on a second Unplugged album. Having a Vinnie appearance would be AWESOME especially w/ Tommy & Eric as there would be less tension knowing Bruce doesn't really like Vinnie. Either do Gene & Paul but, they would get past it ...... $$$$$$$$$$$$. lol

Reason To Live .... yeah, I missed that one, good choice perhaps on Unplugged 3 ? lol

Gene and Paul only pander to the fair weather fans. Not enough interest in Vinnie nowadays to warrant recording a whole new Unplugged just for his appearance... or for that matter with Tommy and Eric.

Vinnie and Mark should've been on the original Unplugged, but at that point it was all about Ace and Peter being introduced back into the fold.

Stick to the topic, it's KISS not vinnie vincent solo stuff ! THE SUBJECT IS KISS !!! Im trying to be nice. Its fine to be hypothetical but, keep it hypothetical to the topic KISS, otherwise this would be under vv general !!!

Ah, I see what you mean. With Vinnie being in Kiss I didn't notice.

Still, there are nicer ways to word it, so you come across better.

Instead of wasting your time & energy on me why dont you explain to others to stay on the subject, this is why we have them is it not ? A VV solo song on a KISS album like what the fuck ... who doesnt get the picture here. Its erg 2 who started it by saying something that didnt need to be said !!!

Jeff, just wondering... how old are you? I was thinking maybe mid-30's to 40's since you're a Vinnie/KISS fan, but your responses make you seem much younger... like maybe a teenager? Just wondering...

Oh o.k. ... I get it Genebaby " Im pretty shot," yeah good song choice for a KiSS UNPLUGGED 2 thanks Pinkwiz. Sorry if I offended anyone by asking if you are on the dope , so rude of me ... my bad !!! While were going the wrong way in this thread we should just put some Peter Criss songs off of Out Of Control on KISS - UNPLUGGED 2, Bruce could do a Whit Lion song !

Jeffrey,
I'm COOL with your list but my only concern is that Bob Kulick played on Danger rather than Vinnie Vincent. It would be interesting to hear Vinnie play this song but to the best of what I have read he has never performed this particular song live. Bob Kulick also played on Keep Me Coming from Creature's but in this case Vinnie did perform this song live a few times as well as Rock N Roll Hell that ws played by Robben Ford on COTN.
The following is from Kiss Faq

CREATURES OF THE NIGHT (1982)

Creatures Of The Night - Unknown (pos. Mike Porcaro) on bass; Steve Ferris on lead guitar; Adam Mitchell on guitar
Danger - Bob Kulick on guitar; Jimmy Haslip on bass
Keep Me Comin' - Bob Kulick on guitar
I Still Love You - Eric Carr on bass; Robben Ford on lead guitar
Rock And Roll Hell - Robben Ford on lead guitar; Jimmy Haslip on bass
War Machine - Gene Simmons on rhythm guitar
Note: Other session players on this album may even include Bruce Kulick!

Thanks for sharing and I would pay to see this event for sure!

Your right, Vinnie did not play on Danger. Was just throwing it out there, think it would be a cool rendition for an acoustic piece !!! Not For The innocent would be cool just dont think it would work acousticly !

I spent a year in the 80s trying to get my hands on the White Tiger cassette. Imagine my surprise upon listening how I had labored much too hard. That album is ass.
#1- Bad production and mixing. If this band was any good, the album does not showcase it at all.
#2- The singing is SO nasally. And he talks more about how he was/is a male model than he does about music.

As much as I disliked the cassette, I heard some potential in a few songs.(Bad Time Coming, Northern Wind, etc.) It was all just cheaply executed...not raw, just amateur.

I was surprised when I got the remastered CD at how much better the completely remixed/reworked ROCK WARRIORS sounded. I think a decent producer could've made something out of this band.

Yeah I was never much of a fan of White Tiger or the stuff that Mark did with Peter Criss (The Keep). The production did suck but unfortunately White Tiger didn't have the songwriting prowess of VVI. In the late 80's, Vinnie blew anything that Mark, Peter, Ace or even KISS did outta the fukn water IMHO (and probably everyone else's honest opinion here too).

KISS was, for the most part IMO, on auto-pilot during the latter half of the 80s. They weren't invested in making the best possible KISS album or product.

I've haven't heard much of The Keep stuff, but I think it's a great effort by a mediocre group of musicians/songwriters. Which is to say, I think for who was making it, it turned out some pretty listenable stuff. I wouldn't have expected that after hearing the Peter Criss solo albums and the White Tiger album. When you're expecting a glass full of diarrhea but get a glass full of flat soda, you feel pretty good about what's going on.

Ace Frehley...it's so hard to say. His solo stuff has ALWAYS been too scattered and unfocused to be great. I think the first couple of Frehley's Comet albums are Ace trying to create hair metal even though his heart wasn't in it. Some of it is pretty good, but none of it is inspired. Trouble Walking is probably his most focused work since his KISS solo album.

Vinnie Vincent VVI is the only KISS member to have an album that is focused, cohesive and more than just filler surrounding a couple of potential singles. ASG is also equally focused and cohesive sounding, but a little too polished-overdubbed-layered to be as great as VVI...but a far more focused effort than White Tiger, Frehley's Comet or Criss/The Keep.
