Wow indeed, we need to get these! I bought a nice Pioneer tape deck the other month. Wanted access to my bootleg cassettes and a way to digitize them.

These tapes were previously owned by George Sewitt and sold in a package deal to the one who is now auctioning off the tapes.

Sounds like much of this stuff we may have heard. Tape 4 I'm wondering if those are in reality Dana Demo's rather than Vinnie Demo's? If they are Vinnie Demo's then we have probably never heard any of those songs.

Vinnie had a British manager who managed him after sewitt, he passed away and I have been tracking down his family to see what stories and tapes they may have.

Wow, the price is going through the roof already!! $200 for old cassettes? Crazy! LOL.

Too bad they are not the actual masters.

I hope whoever gets them shares them with other fans.

$305

I'd bid...but I don't even own a cassette player anymore!!! (Plus 5 out of those tapes are easily obtained stuff...or stuff I don't need alt versions of.

I would dig hearing the ALL SYSTEMS GO unmixed with longer solos to see if it's any different than versions I've heard...

Crazy high $$$ for Vinnie stuff.

It's like "Vinnie who" when you tell someone how much you paid.

I'm just jealous. You would want to know more about what you're getting though. What the versions are and a same of the quality.

It's for those die hard kiss collectors. I am sure we have heard all that. If it were the gfh tapes or his country tapes then I could see $400 as long as its unheard stuff.

I have a nakamichi dragon tape deck which I.assure makes cassette sound so much better than a high end cd . The problem with cassettes wasn't the cassettes it was the players. Only pro cassette decks or the nakamichi sounded any good.

Well, then you need to bid on these, digitize them and post them on here for the group.

I'd pitch in to the fund if everyone else would!!

Absolutely, I have a Nak (not a Dragon tho') it's the only way to go soundwise, but it won't make a bad mix better, usually makes it worse.

Do we know if it's VV driving up the price of these tapes?

If Vinnie drives the price up to make it look impressive he will have to pay up or these will be back up due to non payment and it will look bad.

Could you imagine Vinnie buying his own tapes back?

If its s first time bid it could be fake from the seller. Sometimes they do it for insurance.

Not the version of ALL SYSTEMS GO with extended solos. I reach that conclusion just because I have never seen or heard it. Is it available?

There is the "unmixed" version of ASG, not sure if that tape is pretty much that.

Re: VV 5 tape lot auction

Posted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 3:56 am
by erg2
I know a couple of the "unmixed" ASG songs have slightly longer solos, but nothing to write home about. (I actually think the truncated length of the songs and parts that were cut out were good choices.) So IF that cassette is the same as what you can find online then it's not a big deal. BUT, if by chance, that tape does include more over-the-top guitars and soloing more akin to the self titled album then THAT'S something I would like to hear.
