creatures version of back on the streets

I was trying to imagine back on the streets being included on the creatures album. Vv said it was recorded for that album. It would have added something to the album but may have not totally fitted. I would love to hear the tune with Eric carrs bombastic creatures drum sound . I think it may have fitted better with the lick it up album. I think kids were scared of ballads in 82/83 because of the heavy metal scene.
It would be great to hear bots with Paul on vocsls. We will never hear it unless the producer/engineer/studio manager has a copy somewhere which surely is possible. Kiss will never touch it.

It seems that thrills in the night and theif in the night were also recorded and vv said he had a few other tunes recorded but to be honest I would guess he rehashed them later as it seems vv doesn't waste his old material.

I imagine that BOTS with Paul on vocals would have an "A Million To One" feel.

I remember reading an interview with Vinnie and, to my memory, it was recorded during the LIU sessions but Paul decided to go with A MILLION TO ONE...because if there was going to be a ballad on LIU it was going to be one that Paul had a co-write on. (And BOTS was not co-written by anyone in KISS.)
I think it worked out for the best because I STILL LOVE YOU is perfect in style and tone for CotN and A MILLION TO ONE is perfect in style and tone for LIU. I don't think BOTS would sound right on either of those albums. It's kind of perfect on VV:ST. (But in my opinion it shouldn't have been a duet, it should've been all Robert AND Robert should've been given a proper deal to stay in the band AND BOTS should've been the second single AND it should've been a huge hit circa 1986. But things don't always go the way they are supposed to...)

I think BOTS shouldve been ALL Vinnie on vocals like the demo...

Vinnie said on the dv that it was recorded for creatures . Supposedly Paul didnt like his own vocals . Vv said it was a great recording however.

Would love to hear it of course. This is the kind of thing that should have been on the Kiss box set, more demos, less standard album songs.

I don't think they would've because of the Vinnie royalty issue AND the chance of being sued.
But on the other issue I totally agree. There are plenty of KISS greatest hits packages, so the boxset (which was supposed to be for fans...who would already have all the album tracks) should've been unreleased tracks, demos, live cuts and alt/extended versions.

Yeah they will not touch anything with vv's name.

Freaky. Look at the buffalo expo interview in media and vv explains it was recorded for creatures.

I'm not trying to argue because I may be remembering incorrectly. I just remember (and again, maybe incorrectly) reading an interview where Vinnie said it was recorded on the LIU album and it didn't get used because of A MILLION TO ONE.
If you watch the entire video of the Buffalo convention, he says that he is writing a book about his time in KISS...you know, to tell the truth about what really happened...and that it should be out in about a year.
That was 1994.

It would make sense more what you say. I think bots would hsve suited lick it up. I had a feeling I sounded like I was arguing.. sorry I really didn't mean to sound that way, I know you were just saying what you heard . I am sure bots had to have been considered for both records.
As for the buffalo expo.. vv says Michael James Jackson was his link to kiss but it wasn't it was Adam Mitchell but vv and adam fell out and I guess that's why vv doesn't speak of him and twists the story a little.

It's also funny that vinnie says such nice things about Paul and gene who suppisedly hadn't paid him.. hr doesn't say that stuff anymore.

He should've written his "book" in 1985 before the story changed 15 times.

BOTS would not have worked for either COTN or LIU. It may have been great for Animalize though !!!

I agree. The ballads on CotN and LIU fit pretty perfectly IMO.
I love the WHAT IF of wondering what Animalize might've sounded like with Vinnie instead of Mark St. John and what songs would've ended up on the album. Could've been awesome!

I know one thing that would've remained... the wig that vinnie wore on LIU that mark wore on animalize that vinnie would've worn had he been on animalize...

I'd have to say that with a little dirtier, grittier, and darker drums/guitars, BOTS could've totally fit with CotN. It has that mean sound to it in the first place. I like the change-up between VV & RF on VVI though. I don't think Paul could've done that.

That's what I was saying.. I would like to hear a version of bots with that creatures sound.. a little mote ballsy.version. it would be interesting to see how it sounded.

There is no way to improve Paul Stanley. *Crosses arms*.

Should've done the same thing for Creatures... Vinnie first then Paul singing the Robert F. parts.
OR if Paul's ego didn't get in the way let Vinnie sing all of BOTS on Creatures?

Would be great to hear the KISS version. Here's what David Snowden had to say …
http://www.kissfaq.com/KissFAQ-wiki/ind ... id_Snowden
DS: Because "Back On The Streets," KISS recorded that with Gene singing it, Paul singing it, Eric singing it …
KF: Can you verify that David? I believe Michael James Jackson liked the song and it was demoed, but I haven't heard about Paul, Gene and Eric singing it.
DS: Yep. They recorded it with all four of them, including Vinnie singing it.
KF: I've often thought about Paul singing that song and how it could have been a KISS classic.
DS: And the reason why it didn't go on there was everybody tried singing that song -- and this is where I give Paul Stanley a lot of credit -- Paul's got a really good ear for knowing good music. And his thought was, "Nobody can get this song to have the heart and the soul the way that it does when Vinnie sang it." There was something about the way that Vinnie would sing that song that was just incredible. But you can't bring a new band member and let them sing on their first record.

Correction. Vinnie wasnt a band member. Why did they record with vv singing when ace was to.be on album cover. Snowden knows nothing. I dont know why he is an authority on vv.

Another prime mistake made by Kiss Co.

Vinnies debut was lick it up not creatures. Only session musician. It would be very odd to have a non kiss member sing on creatures. It makes no sense that they would consider vv singing bots on creatures. That said it would hacve been a good idea for liu.

I have a couple of small issues with snowden.
1. I sent 3 checks to fan club and never got anything sent.
2. Many people will tell you he was slagging vv off bu end of asg.
3. He really is 'too' professional to tell real story.
4. Doesnt know vv couldnt sing on creatures as was not in band.
Other than that love the guy.

Two ballads might've been too much and I love A Million To One but it would've been cool by the time LIU was recorded if they'd finally used BOTS with Vinnie singing lead... and possibly Carr singing lead on studio version of Young and Wasted.
