The Decibel Geek Podcast has released an in-depth discussion with Great White vocalist Jack Russell for downloading and streaming. In this long form discussion, the veteran front man details stories from his 30+ years in the rock music industry from platinum highs to tragic lows.

Russell shares his memories of the Sunset Strip in the late 70’s & early 80’s when then-local struggling bands were about to fill arenas worldwide to capacity and how changing times and technology have most likely tarnished the chances of a “scene” happening in the future as it did in Los Angeles.

From the early Great White releases that bared a striking difference in sound to the multi-platinum albums that followed, Russell gives us a glimpse into the decision-making process of the band through the 80’s and how things began to break for them with the Once Bitten and Twice Shy albums garnering mainstream radio airplay.

Jack Russell also shares some entertaining stories from the road including a volleyball game with a leather-clad Judas Priest in Biloxi, Mississippi and an interesting quip about an interview that Gene Simmons gave about Great White opening for KISS in 1992.

Jack Russell and Great White have been no strangers to controversy over the years with the biggest being the tragic nightclub fire at The Station in Warwick, Rhode Island in 2003. In this interview, you will hear why Russell has decided to stay mum on the issue from this point forward. Also included in this episode are Russell’s comments about the current state of Great White; being that there are now two versions of the band and legal wheels in motion between them.
