Fantastic band. Wonder if Paul can sing like that anymore?
In Sydney for that solo he did some sweep picking.

Rafael Moreira is one of my absolute favorite new guitarists. This kid is absolutely a fucking terrific guitar player!

I have that DVD. Surprisingly good show and displays that Paul is (was?) a great front-man and singer who SHOULD'VE finished off his career as a solo artist instead of running KISS into the ground.

i didn't like his album but you have a point. I don't think the solo tour brings in enough cash for him

I didn't HATE his solo album. I think as far as songs are concerned, it was 50/50. The production was high quality but certainly toned down with no rough edges. I think he was actually trying to create "radio hits" instead of just focusing on making good rock music. But he could've done so many solo albums by now. I'd be more interested in that than these scab KISS albums.

yeah, funny it seems like the harder you try to write a hit the further you are from it.

Shame too. I'd almost forgotten that he was as awesome as this, the vocal is outstanding on this clip.

And this was only a few years ago! It's sad to think that such a powerhouse voice is (for the most part) gone.

Technically good but real cookie cutter with no danger or soul.
Rafael Moreira is the only guy that GETS IT and goes for it a bit. Still , He doesn't play with the reckless abandon of VV.
With Vinnie, it sounded like his guitar could snap at any given note.

Yup. All skilled players...they'd probably do just as well playing country-pop. The best live rock should have a couple of things:
- that "stay away from my daughter, dirtbag" feeling
- the feeling that the band could go off the rails at any point.
* One of the best live bands in the world was THE FACES. Awesome songs with great rock players (not musicians) that at any point sounded like the song could collapse or any of the members could pass out drunk!

yes these guys are technically good but are really no different than studio musicians... there to do a job, get paid, and go home (hotel).

Yeah. No fishing out of the hotel window and then shoving said fish into the coochie of a willing groupie.

I wanted to check Paul's solo album on youtube (never heard it). I found some of it and didn't really like it, then I got this amazing version of "A million to one" live that you've already talked about here... What a voice!
Too bad Vinnie wasn't there!
I like Moreira though
