Goran Edman(Yngwie) is singing lead.Vinnie is a dominating voice in the chorus harmonies. That steel guitar in the verse just slays me.
I really like the Goran/Vinnie music that was produced. I want more.

It reeks of Invincible ... yet another incarnation of the same idea .. maybe he burned out ? I cant hear any steel guitar .. but then I am on shitty monitor speakers and not my ace sound system I usually have .. either way .. this is nothing in comparison to the VVI albums .. arguably better than I could write maybe .. that remains to be seen .. but by VV's standards it's a bit lame really .. more like a montage of ideas than a complete song (just my opinion)

I put this in the same vein as Forbidden, which I really like.

Wow, tough crowd!
I like all the different Vinnie incarnations including Goran Edman and Jeff Scott Soto.
My least favorite is probably Treasure and I don't hate it is just my least favorite.
Go Robert Fleishman!

JSS only worked for me with Yngwie and the "Rock Star" soundtrack.
JSS with Journey, solo, or Vinnie , is a FAIL for me.

Wasn't being ungrateful Kev .. just some observations .. first time I ever heard the track .. and in al honesty .. it wont be a keeper for me .. I am very glad to have heard it as it makes a lot of sence now to hear this as to why almost all the solos on GFH were in many ways similar .. he had hit the wall and it was all just a blur but with similar melodies .. yes i wish I could have and still try to find the wall he crashed against but .. I try to look further afield than my own anhialation of the guitar world and accept my place in it .. perhaps thats the inherant problen with VV .. he never fit in to anything

Yeah, I´ve had the same sentiments about the later VV writing as Teej has,
V started to rehash the same chord and melody ideas too much, maybe he did burn out or really needed/should have used cowriters for the music.
like the "Invince" solo section is the same as Ashes, that, Bm E9 E7-9-5 to Amajor7 Dmajor7 etc thing.
In my opinion you use something that strong once for a song, and dont do it again in another one....
This is just like ,...my Opinion man, in a "Dude" voice. (Big Lebowsky) Haha.

The singer on Over You is Göran Edman.

Listening to this song right now and I am noticing some Paul Rogers inflections in the phrasing and melismas of Goran, especially when he sings the words "Over You".
Also, I just listened to a Vinnie interview where he said that his father played pedal steel. I wonder if Vinnie used his dad's pedal steel on this ?
If only Vinnie would speak.

I want a pedal steel now!

Seriously. I listen to weird shit like Santo, and Johnny's old song "Sleepwalk." I still listen to that old song lol
This is one of my fav. later things V has done. I love the lyrics.

they sound great but hard as hell to play. If an 80s metal band has addedd pedaL steel i think it would have started something good. Just needed some balls.
