No, it business as usual for now. I suppose the next few weeks will be interesting. Was told if the actual shop doesn't exist, the Steve Stevens clinic will be held somewhere else. On with the show!

Some good news then.

Though truth be told, they also suffered from a big store mentality too. Lots of nice gear but no care to set anything up. Nearly all the guitars had action of about a half inch, electronic drums getting beaten to the shitter by school kids and not always the best price. That's what the Queen St Mall store in Brisbane is like.

I wonder how much longer Guitar center will hold out. The only thing I get there is small stuff any thing big I get online just to save tax's. They have online and store coupons but nothing good ever qualify's. I think this is why they have really dived in to the used gear sales.

In Australia, more than the states I say we have a huge problem that inflates the price of not just musical instruments, but other items also. We have these distribution companies. So let's say you want a Jackson guitar. The retailer, by law, needs to buy it from Fender Australia, who purchased it from Fender USA. Every chain in the process of you getting your guitar wants to be paid, therefore inflating the cost. They way it works out is you can save up to a third by buying that guitar on eBay & going it shipped to Australia. You see a $3000 in an Australian store. You'll save up to $2000 by looking around. Even more if you get really lucky. Basically we get shafted in Australia. We a quickly becoming as I like to call it a TURD world country. We should be doing exactly the same thing that dropped the price of compact disks. Dropped the price dramatically. Australian retailers should be able to Parallel import. They should be able to purchase items direly from the source, there fore reducing the cost for themselves and their customers. I have had these discussions and a lot of people are against it cause it means these Australian distribution companies may end up closing down. Well that will happen anyway, when there are not retailers left to purchase their goods. Allan's is pretty much the last ship left out there sailing as far as selling musical equipment to the public. Yes there are others, but they will all be in the same situation that Allan's is in. The Allan's of the australia go down the drain, so will these Australian distribution companies.

That's about right Dannii! Although we obviously only have a tenth of the population of the US, you can expect to pay a little more by vitue of sheer numbers sold in comparison. BUT...most of the stuff is now made in Asian countries so freight SHOULD be cheaper to Oz but it ain't???

Take for example the new Ibanez Premium range. They are made 3 hours away from Darwin in Indonesia but are still cheaper in the US. And our dollar buys $US1.05 at the moment! Check them on ebay.com and ebay.com.au to compare.

Lucky I own enough guitars now! :D

Maybe!

I didnt know that was the deal, I thought it was just shipping but then again I never really shopped an Australian store. I am surprised that a store has not just bought a bunch have them shipped as and sell them as used. Thats how a few places here get over on M.A.P pricing.
