Reach For the Sky was an AWESOME Ratt album, it should have sold a TON, especially with the fanbase they already kinda had. Dancing Undercover wasn't as good but I still can't work why Reach wasn't massive.

I know they had Producer issues, but the album turned out excellent.

I just hung out with those guys a couple of weeks ago. First time meeting Robbie and Warren. Cool dudes. That's when I talked to Trunk about VV backstage at the Hilton.

Lucky bastard Drew.

I did meet Warren after he played with Whitesnake in Sydney, 94, but it was fleeting, he was being rushed as he signed my cd's.

By the way grunge didn't really take off until the 90s and winger did get a lot of mtv play as well as smooth up inya and slaughter got a huge amount of mtv play. Extreme also sold millions and ratt were headlining nba basketball arenas until the early 90s It was not grunge that stopped asg selling.

Nothing pisses me off more than when someone says Kurt Cobain single handedly destroyed the 80's rock scene . When in fact there had always been an underground even back in 84 with bands like Soundgarden. So Soundgarden was the first alternative band in a way. Gnr were also a form of alternative rock that was dangerous. Then in my opinion Alice In Chains laid the final stone laying down the path for Cobain. Nirvanas fans will always think I mean it as a form of disrespect to Kurt but when in fact it's the Truth. Do I think Nirvana came in afterwards in pioneered the alternative revolution that gave us 10yrs worth of bad tasteless music... yes :). :x Then there was Pearl Jam, and that's about all I can remember :P. Soundgarden didn't really take off until after Nirvana but they were still there first, and get no credit. There was some of music that came out in the 90's Candlebox was one of my favorite bands then. Rock music still existed just under a forced banner and genre title.

Not to be rude but it looks like Warren had his monk-like thinning spot touched up. I liked the fact that he was thinning and didn't go the Don Dokken route by wearing a muscrat on his head. Don actually looks better when he goes au naturale with his bald spot and receding hairline. SERIOUSLY.

I think the same could be said for a lot of our favorite rockers. Just go natural.

quentin, i agree. Nothing lasts forever and rock/metal had many genres from glam to AOR to Heavy Metal to Thrash/Speed etc. It lasted a long time. Alice Cooper / Kiss /Black Sabbath and a few others really started it in the 70s and then Iron Maiden / Motley Crue / Van Halen / Scorpions / Whitesnake/ Metallica etc picked up the mantle in the early 80s and it really went on another 9 years or so throughout the 80s. I think peaking in the mid to late 80s. Also people want something a little different from time to time. Guns n' Roses/ LA Guns / Faster Pussycat etc were different and came out in 1987 with their debut albums but it didn't kill off other Rock/metal bands. Nivarna/Soundgarden/Pearl Jam etc really were just another aspect of HM but people decided that it was cooler at the time and just like bebop jazz started to die in the 70s or Disco fading in the early 80s , it is always going to happen. No one can kill the music off apart from the fans changing tastes really.

by the way Ratt had a great Heavy Metal drummer. not my cup of herbal tea these days but a true great. I liked him much better than Dokken's drummer. The drums sound on 'in my dreams' and all those tunes on that record sounded like a 'Simmons kit' or worse. (sorry to be opinionated, especially to people who liked that drums sound).

Thanks Slayer. If someone says they love Ratt I thought it woud be OK to share what Ratt looks like today. I also have pics with everyone but Bob (Blotzer) because he booked after the gig. I talked to their manager Jamie Talbot by phone from in LA and he said that he was traveling alone. "Sometimes he takes the executive decisions upon himself" he said...

I'm hoping I win it, I just want it for cheap. I like Jackson enough to want this thing, and it is meant to sound pretty good from what I've heard in the past.

I'll try and find a foots witch that works with it if I get it.

Vic, I'm sure Robbin regrets dying. He was too far gone. I read something about the last years of his life by someone that he befriended. Truly sad stuff. I'm sure you could find it if Googled. The Ratt guys barely visited him .

Yeah Rick, that was a guy from the Jackson/Charvel Forum.

It would have been hard for the Ratt boys to see him like that and acknowledge how truly fucked he was by then.

He did say that he had lived the life of a King. Sure, he didn't really want to be like that but he made his bed and accepted that.

It's sad that he went back to his bad ways and bad "friends" and took the final overdose. Such a waste.

So if you were to recommend a Ratt album to listen to, which would you suggest?
And not necessaruly your fav, the one with the widest appeal.
I need something else to listen to and never gave these guys a go, don't know why, just didn't.

I started with Out Of The Cellar, which is stellar!!....lol....

You can't go wrong with RattnRoll, their first best of, it's got a bit of everything and a good helping of Out Of The Cellar.

Try that and see how you go. Great stuff.

vic, did yo get the jackson amp.

they were great. I was under the impression that Vinnie used them or at least tried it out. They used to have pink Jackson cabs with Celestion speakers to go with the amp.

I didn't get the preamp, I lost the auction, didn't try hard enough. I lost a decent Jackson guitar for cheap yesterday too due to being at the Bon Jovi concert. I guess it wouldn't have gone so cheap if I had bid, I didn't expect it to stay at such a low price.
