Looks like KISS have been forced to changed the Monster Logo.....if you look at the "O" now, it has changed from what it was only a week or so ago.

From the looks of the album cover, they used a font for the word MONSTER on the cover. That font is owned by someone. They failed to pay that someone for usage and got sued. So they are changing it slightly.

I remember being SO excited when Psycho Circus was announced. I did not have internet or much money for magazines or anything at the time. It was media black-hole for me at the time. I went to the mom-n-pop record store (cuz they still existed back then) and picked it up the day it was released. I ripped it open on the way to the truck and stuck it in the player and by the third song I was screaming to myself, "THAT'S NOT PETER CRISS!"

Then when I listened to the rest of the album and came to the conclusion that it probably wasn't Ace playing on hardly anything.

I know a lot of people like the single PSYCHO CIRCUS, but I think it's a turd. There are a couple of cool moments but the chorus is just terrible. "YOU'RE IN THE PSYYYYYYYY - YOU'RE IN THE PSYCHO CIRCUS" Stupid sounding.

My favorite song on the album is INTO THE VOID. I don't think it's the "best" song on the album or even one of the best songs KISS has ever done. When I heard it, I thought it actually sounded like KISS circa LOVE GUN. I don't know why Gene & Paul couldn't work the other songs like that one?

I think the "best" song on the album is WE ARE ONE. That is a great pop/rock ballad. They really should have released that song as a single.

There are a LOT of studio atrocities that are Frankensteined together on that album. WITHIN, JOURNEY OF 1000 YEARS, etc. The biggest travesty of all is that shit-sandwich of a ballad that Stanley made Peter sing.

The worst part of it all is the production. So over-produced and slick. No rough edges. No balls. So clean and pop sounding. Wrong for KISS and wrong for the time period that it was being released.

And for all those reasons, SONIC BOOM and MONSTER are superior albums to PSYCHO CIRCUS.

I can't remember how but even in 98 I managed to get hold of Psycho Circus in adavance on the web somewhere. It was slightly lo-fi and I transfered it to cassette tape as a way to listen to it in the car etc.

I dunno, I only like a few songs off these last three albums and will probably not bother listening to Monster anymore now, I'll just try and find out what songs they'll play on tour here and let my daughter hear them so she knows them for the show.

And oh yes, it was so bad it deserves special attention.

That ballad Paul wrote and made Peter sing is THE worst KISS song by a long mile, what an absolute piece of shit song. I can't beleive they wrote and released it, and that Peter sang it. I would have refused. I blamed Peter until I saw the writing credits. It would not be out of place on Peter's last solo album though.

Maybe he'll mention it in his book which is about to come out any day now.

That is odd.. I thought the same thing about that crap ballad on Psycho Circus... that it would fit perfectly on one of Criss' shitty post Kiss solo albums. Goddamn that song was horrible...

I only think that after hearing Peter's very last solo album, that song is worse than anything on his two earlier ones, and I actually like the Out Of Control album.

Paul Stanley can't write a ballad to save his ass. He is just WAY too corny. He needs a co-writer to reign him in.

I think Psycho Circus is the absolute perfect example of Gene & Paul ego destroying what could've been the perfect final act in the story of KISS. Yes Ace & Peter were not playing anywhere near as well as what they used to play back in the beginning. Agreed. I don't think anybody is arguing that. But neither is/was Gene or Paul. They weren't as far gone, but definitely not 100%.

I still contend that if they would've worked as a band...as a TEAM...and put together an album with Peter on drums, Gene on bass, Paul on rhythm and Ace on lead that it would've been a solid entry into the KISS catalog. The playing would've been in the quality level of INTO THE VOID. Not the greatest, but real. And letting Peter and Ace bring some songs to the album AND WORK THEM UP AS A GROUP would've improved the songs, brought the band together and saved us the hodge-podge legacy we have today.

They could've done 3 albums that way and then done a farewell tour and recorded Alive 4 and given us all a true legacy we could all be proud of.
