Vinnie the fast player + Gene and Paul censoring him

I wonder how come Vinnie learned to play so fast
and no one has ever get to touch his speed.
Gene and Paul missed the boat by censoring him by not letting his ideas fly!

It makes less sense when you see how they let MSJ go crazy all over Animalize. *scratches head*

they're idiots. also the fact mark couldnt play the same solo twice....made the karma even that much more worthy of falling onto them

It does make sense. When LIU came out, the super fast finger tapping was just starting but not a "requirement" of the genre yet. By the time Animalize came out, if you were a metal band and you weren't playing your solos at lightning speed then you were out of the game. They adapted to stay alive. It would be more impressive today if they HAD let Vinnie do his stuff on LIU because it would've shown that they were ahead of the curve...but at that point they were about 14 months behind and I don't think they ever really caught back up.

They were always playing catch up in the 80's. It was kinda sad.

I think Paul and Gene knew Vinnie wasn't gonna stick around long, that's probably why they didn't let him go the "guitar god" route while in Kiss (shredding on albums, guitar endorsements, etc.)

If Vinnie would have stuck it out, they probably would have given him more freedom later. Didnt they encourage Ace to sing on some songs, because he didnt want to?
