Alcatrazz

What once was New England, became Warrior, but was forced to become Alcatrazz...

Not even knowing about the Vinnie connection, I've loved Alcatrazz since it formed.

The NPFRNR album has what I believe to be the playing, singing, and songwriting ,that Yngwie has searched for ever since. It still amazes me what Graham Bonnet was able to sing like . He sounds like a devine entity/demon on every song. I cannot believe his projection. AMAZING. This album is PERFECTION to me.

Check this version of a Rainbow song out. Yngwie at his BEST !!!!!

The album they did with Steve Vai (Disturbing The Peace) is really good too. I hold it as close to my heart as DLR's Eat'em And Smile.

A version of Alcatrazz with Danny Johnson didn't spark me. I will have to give that album a spin soon and see if I think differently.I would've loved more albums from these eras.
These albums hit me at a very important time in my guitar playing.

I've been listening to the Danny Johnson Alctrazz album on Youtube (I own a copy on cassette  ).
Good stuff but a different flavor . It doesn't grip me like the first two albums although Graham still delivers amazing performances like this :

We should play Six Degrees Of Separation: The Vinnie Vincent Edition.
Bobby Rock has been doing shows with GB's Alcatrazz.

Let's take a plane and go somewhere exotic. :)

Haven't seen that vid in ages. Last time I saw it was on youtube and it was edited with some of the devil's footage missing? Is saying "whipped cream" THAT R rated???

I keep wondering if Vinnie had stayed with Warrior if Graham Bonnett would have joined . I would've loved to have heard Graham sing with Vinnie. His air-raid siren voice would have slayed. Like Malmsteen and Vai, Vinnie would have had a short tenure but I believe we would've gotten one of his best offerings.

Alcatrazz gave us Yngwie and Vai at the top of their game. That's a firm tribute to the incredible musicianship of Jimmy ,Jan, Graham, and Gary.
Those guys played really well with others ,showcasing the different guitarists style and songs, while retaining a cohesive band sound.

One thing for sure, Vai sure is struggling when he plays the Malmsteen material live. Very stiff.
Compare the same songs below:

I'm sure Yngwie would have equal difficulty attempting the Vai material.

agreed. it's tough for one great guitarist to mimic another one to a tee.

anyway, check out the 'alcatrazz country club gig' songs on youtube. if memory serves it's from 1983. there's no video (just a still), but the audio is great. oh, here's one of them:
