God I can not stand aerosmith ballads. Commercial garbage. A great band reduced to a cup of puke.

I dig the early ballads. I can even like the country-pop tinged stuff on Pump/Get A Grip.
It has become a less than genuine marketing tool that I strongly believe is Steven Tyler's doing.
Judging by the actions and interviews I have witnessed and read with the other band members in recent years, it seems that they would like to make raw rock recordings while Steven is still craving fame and hits.
To me,Steven tainted his artistic integrity with American Idol.
I strongly believe , that although very talented, Carry Underwood has no place on an Aerosmith album(MFAD).
The song is like Velvetta cheese. It is good when you are hungry but it is nothing that you crave.
Aerosmith, however, did redeem themselves somewhat by having early 1980's touring guitarist(pictured on the back cover of RIAHP),Rick Dufay, play on a bonus track on selected copies of the new album. He performed on the cover of "Shaky Ground".

Yeah and tyler has criticized kiss but like the new kiss or not they are not churning out pukey commercial ballads.

Ugh... all Aerosmith ballads are like nails on a chalkboard. As much as new Kiss may suck... Aerosmith has sucked for the last 20 years...

I will say that Honkin' On Bobo was a great idea that got lost in slick production. It wasn't raw enough.
That being said, I believe that Steven wanted a Grammy for that album . It seemed like they were having a Rod Stewart moment...
