What songs or references pop out to you within Vinnie's lyrics ? The references have to be things that pre-date the album they are on unless Vinnie or a member used it later in their career. Some things are obvious tributes from Vinnie while others can be things that you may notice and Vinnie never intended.
For instance ,The song "Breakout" off of ASG :
(Vinnie Vincent)
We go it alone on the edge of the night
There's no reward, no ending in sight
Sweet destiny, she's waiting for me
I'll find her walking down the streets of my dreams
Her name is no mercy
She's the calm before the storm
Fighters have only but one tool
We live by one golden rule
We're gonna lay down our lives and survive
And hear our battle cry:
CHORUS
Breakout--freedom calls me
Breakout--no chains can hold me down
Breakout--rip it up we make the laws and break it
Breakout--sound of sirens
Breakout--wailing as the night cries
Breakout--band of gypsies--young blood on the rise
We live by day and we love by night
Across the badlands--angels in flight
Nowhere to run, no the proud, they never hide
Live by the gun--aces high, come on let it ride
Yeah--they call us the hunted
We've got nothing left to lose
Wanted men, women, and losers unite
We shed our tears for the sacrifice
Well never surrender or take us alive
You better hear our battle cry:
CHORUS
SOLO
REPEAT CHORUS
*****************************************************************************************************
Street of Dreams- Rainbow
No Mercy- Cheap Trick
Aces High- Iron Maiden
Band Of Gypsies- Hendrix reference
Youngblood- Future unreleased VV song
Angels in flight- precursor to Slaughter's "Fly To The Angels" ?
Sacrifice- Racer X
Never Surrender- Corey Hart
Nowhere To Run- Kiss
Wanted Men- "Wanted Man" from Ratt
Badlands- reference to Jake's (at the time ) new band
Breakout- Ace Frehley/ Eric Carr

Heavy Pettin' from ASG :
[Vinnie Vincent]
Ooh soft as velvet, sweeter than wine
Hot blooded prime grade a
Oh lust me tough me sweet little child
This little girl has come of age
She's sweet as virgin clover she's my baby love doll
Erotic kind of candy she melts in your mouth
Every young boy's dream she's miss everything
She's a killer queen she's got the kiss of fire
[Chorus]
Heavy pettin' she taught me everything
Heavy pettin' mother nature's wild child
Heavy pettin' she's my little passion queen
Heavy pettin' walking on the wild side
Ooh, she'll lick your wounds and swallow your pride
Show you worlds you've never seen
Oh love you to ruin, leave you on cloud nine
Higher than you've ever been
Her love is sheer perfection only one of a kind
She's the ultimate connection she'll blow your mind
She'll grant all of your dreams - wishes guaranteed
In every joy of heaven that she brings
[Chorus]
She gives the right amount of pleasure
She blisters my love zone
Under hundred tons of pressure oh
Ready to blow baby bring it on home
[Chorus]
Hot Blooded- Foreigner
Killer Queen- Queen
Wild Child- W.A.S.P.
Walk On The Wild Side -Lou Reed
Kiss Of Fire- Louis Armstrong

I get the idea now...
The line "She's a killer queen she's got the kiss of fire" of course has that Queen reference but also having Kiss and Killer in the same line reminds me of Creatures and one of Vinnie's first songs with them...
Also Heavy Pettin (spelled the same) was the name of the support band on the UK Lick it Up Tour. I always thought he'd got the idea there...

How about this one- a right mix up of religious, literary and nationalist references in one half verse-
"Rock of ages carry the news
to the heart of a brave new world
Feel the noise in the name of rock, let the heavens roar"
Rock of Ages is a 18thC Christian Hymn, though the phrase is partially translated from an older Jewish religious text, the Ma'oz Tzur.
Brave New World is of course from Shakespeare's The Tempest, one of the characters is in awe of the outside world saying "How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world, That has such people in it!". Or is Vinnie quoting Aldous Huxley quoting Shakespeare?
"Let the heaven's roar" is the more common English translation for the 5th line of Tunisia's national anthem, usually sung in Arabic or French.
So how many of these are intentional, how many accidental and how many did Gene do?

Baby -O :
Your a double-barrel cardiac arrest
She-demon, I see right through your dress
A fox, love toy, she's candy sweet
Hot little strutter, wild bitch in heat
Mercy angel, voodoo child
You gimme fever, you're driving me wild
[Chorus]
Baby-O, Baby-O, I
Baby-O, Baby-O, I
Baby, I'm on fire for you
Metalic angel workin' that midnight run
Pull the trigger, pistol-whip me
With your pleasure gun
Let your honey drip down on me
With a passion so willing, so wicked and free
Spread your love and make my dreams come true
Like wild fire, I'm burnin' for you
[Chorus]
Baby-O, Baby-O, I
Baby-O, Baby-O, I
Baby, I'm on fire for you
[Solo]
[Chorus]
Baby-O, Baby-O, I
Baby-O, Baby-O, I
Baby, I'm on fire for you
*************************************************************

Let's try to stick with things that may have Influenced Vinnie. From songs that were popular at the time to stuff that he may have listened to growing up.
The best songwriters tend to be good thieves in that they borrow wisely from many good songs to make their own.

I see what you mean. He probably didn't steal from the Tunisian national anthem, but I reckon him or Gene did steal "Brave New World" from Aldous Huxley, as did Iron Maiden. Huxley was a very popular author in the US 60s alternative scene with references to hallucinagenic drugs in his books, Vinnie and Gene would have known about the book for sure. Huxley took the phrase from Shakespeare, and inded quotes Shakespeare several times in the book Brave New World. So I think that quote is relevant.
Not sure on Rock of Ages... could be co-incidence but as we know the Christian/Jewish theme is one of Gene's specialist areas of knowledge.
Interesting the ones you've picked up on. At first I thought they were mostly co-incidence. But now noting two Hendrix quotes, yes, he's definately dropping them on purpose. The Kiss ones again, I thought were co-incidence at the time (and something like Nowhere to Run, still could be) but putting Strutter into his lyrics, that has to be on purpose! It's funny as at the time he wasn't mentioning Kiss in interviews... but he was naming them in lyrics. Very cool.
I'd be curious to know how many more Hendrix or Zeppelin lyrics and themes come up in his other songs... and also how many more Kiss ones...
This is a great thread

This is the song that made me start this thread.
Let Freedom Rock :
Heavy metal cry heard around the world
Rebel yell we shout out loud
We got your rock--we'll guard your soul
We're the law and we lay it down
Do or die I love it
Right or wrong I need it
We're gonna rock you
We live for love and glory
And die for what we know is truth
CHORUS
We're gonna let it rock
Let freedom rock
Let, let it rock
Let freedom rock
Let, let freedom rock
Land of the free and the brave
We're gonna let it rock
So proudly we hail at dawns' early light
To the shores of Tripoli
We're b.a.d. balls to the wall
No mercy for the enemy
Shout out loud: fair warning
Shout out loud: fair warning
We're gonna rock you
Young thunder never dies
In blood we sign on the dotted line
We plead united--we are the rock of ages
We are the hammer of the gods
Rejoice our victory--it's celebration day
Freedom ring loud and be proud
REPEAT CHORUS

That's a good one, another Kiss title and some Zepp... I'd never noticed how much he showed all this...
Helix also supported on UK Lick it UP tour and didn't Accept do part of the US Lick it UP tour?
