Was reading vv only officially announced bas kiss band member from august 1983. Thats only 7 months from leaving. Is this correct?

 The record company didn't want the fans to know that Ace Frehley was no longer in KISS so they decided on having him on the original cover, having him perform in the video for I Love It Loud, and do some promotional appearances. It wasn't until December 1982 that Polygram released a press notice saying that Vinnie would "temporarily" replace Ace on the tour due to his car accident. It wouldn't be until August 1983 that an official announcement was made that Ace was no longer a member of KISS.

That sounds about right for what the "public" was told,ie, Vinnie is temporarily replacing Ace for this tour, he's still a member, his face is on the album and video, yada, yada, yada.

Come Lick It Up about to be released and there was no way to say Vinnie was a temp. Ace was gone since early 82 after they realised The Elder was a flop. He didn't participate in any new music like Killers and Creatures but this was not told to the public, as was the way back then.

Peter was gone right after the Dynasty tour but it was not announced until 1980 when they pretty much had everything ready to move to Eric.
