I like Tommy . He has shown class and does what it takes --BUT -- The Ace is correct.

After his Sydney show a few years ago, during his sober period, he showed us all he does not have what it takes to play with the big boys anymore, e.g. a full Kiss tour. His backing band would have fired him if he wasn't the boss. He's living off his legend status.
Tommy smokes him at being Ace. I smoke him at being Ace.

This is when attitude and personality , not technique, come into play.
Ace is Ace and has always been so.
I really couldn't pick Tommy's guitar playing out if I tried. He has never done anything that really stuck with me.
I respect him and think he does a great job of playing Classic KISS /Ace guitar licks.
I prefer the danger in Ace's playing. From night to night, you never knew if he was gonna play like a virtuoso or sloppy Rock ala Keef Richards'solos.
I have seen Ace on back to back nights and he was a totally different player BUT it was incredibly enjoyable each night because of his
je ne sais quoi.
Tommy is predictably solid but lacks French stuff.

The big Ace died, for a very long time! Today he is poignant and pathetic, he spits at the group, but makes all to return has Tommy's place! Ace became a small person and realizes that without Kiss it is nothing!
That there is or he is, it is has to say nowhere!!!

Anomaly is far better than the last two KISS albums.
Gene's songs on Sonic Boom were great. I can't stand Paul's Pepsi commercial song writing.
Paul had a good one on Monster (Shout Mercy). It made me think of the Motown Sound.

Anomaly was a stinkfest IMO. Sonic Boom had some moments though I haven't heard it in years. I have never listened to Monster!!!

Anomaly better than 2 last ones Kiss?
Anomaly is badly produced, the titles are pretty poor and the botched soloes and it is always the same thing since 1978, without creativity, genius!!! The first one Of Frehley comet here is sublime one album, it is true that Tod Howarth pushed him!
He is alone with lumberjacks and it gets on!!!
But it is only my simple opinion!

Anomaly has a lot more honesty to it. I have said in the past that Ace needed Eddie Kramer to at least produce his solos.
I also base my judgement on the ears of my kiddies. When they hear a good song , they want the song repeated.
I stand by the reasons I gave in the earlier post.
Paul should just sing for Folger's and Pepsi and just stay home and WIN !

Some "tiger's blood" may help Paul's voice!?

Tommy is great at covering Ace that's it, there is not one Tommy Thayer lick that any kid on the planet is sitting in there bed room trying to learn .... Ace is Ace and all that comes with it, and at any given moment there is someone trying to learn anything from "Fire house" to Love Gun".
Tommy Vrs Ace ... Tommy would noodle for 20 min playing nothing special Ace would walk on stage play the beginning to parasite and walk off the stage. Ace wins.

Ace's back catalog wins hands down but Ace for many years has not had the chops or self discipline to play in the big leagues.
That's what we are discussing, that Tommy can out-Ace Ace these days.
Sober or not, the damage has been done, you can't rely on Ace. He was getting all his own songs wrong in Sydney.
Forgivable because it's Ace, we know him, but still not a great way to be remembered. He could have come out and blown us all away, instead we just laughed off his incompetence.
Ace can probably only remember the beginning of Parasite, then Tommy could play the rest after Ace goes for a lie down.

I will dare put Ace's new songs against any Tommy song that he has written.
Ace wins.

He did a good job there yes. Would I trust him to go on a world tour playing arenas and stadiums? No.
Because he's Ace he gets let off easy. If you weren't a big Kiss fan at his Sydney show you'd have been pissed at him, but we laughed it off, which is kinda sad. We shouldn't have to laugh to cover for Ace, he should be making us go, wow, he's still got it.
