LOL, I've been enthralled by this forum and just stumbled onto a thread where there was question of a lurker being Vinnie himself, so I figured I should hop on over and introduce myself so no one wonders that about me.

While I'm assuredly not Vinnie, I will admit I had the HUGEST crush on him back in the day. I was wondering what he was up to these days, did a little Googling, and found this forum. Along with a lot of other information that pretty much shocked me.

As an aside, I work from home and always have tabs of interest open on my browser to read between reports, so if you see me lurking around for ungodly periods of time, fear not, I'm not VV, Meredith, or any of his AKAs. Just a VV 80s fangirl fascinated with the forum.

Oh, I was head over heels in lust as soon as I saw the Lick It Up video on MTV (back when MTV actually showed videos, back in the "old days"). My sister was a huge fan of Paul Stanley but my little black heart went pitter-patter over VV.

Unfortunately, I didn't see them in my area during the LIU tour but I did catch them during the Animalize tour. I think VV was out of the band by then, though.

I liked the VVI videos as well (especially Time of the Year), but I could never figure out why VV started sporting that heinous 80s black wig. His own hair was clearly just brown and thin (but sexy nonetheless) when he was with KISS. That wig was just all sorts of awfulness but it really affected my "viewing pleasure" of VV from that point on. And the mug shot was just...Well, so much for my hot-blooded, head-banging fantasy of my 80s youth. Yikes.

Mugshot is using the same wig that he uses since the mid nineties,same one.

Vinnie more than one look, yes, which could get confusing but it was a sign of the times I guess you could say.

I like his more toned down look though you couldn't tell from my Avatar, I like that particular picture.

Yes, except for that dreaded wig...Ay yi yi. I was always partial to his real long thin hair he had in the LIU video. The guy had a great face and maybe those wigs just covered up too much of it for me.

Having had the big 80s hair myself (Hello, Aqua Net!), maybe he started wearing the wig to look more like all the other hair/glam bands.

That being said, he really should have burned those wigs about 20 years ago. That mug shot look was not a good one. Of course, had I been locked in my house avoiding the police for hours until the SWAT team arrived and "escorted" me out of my home, I'm sure I wouldn't be looking my best, either.

Are there any candid shots of him in the past 10 years around anywhere? Google only gave me back pictures from the KISS/VVI days and that mugshot. I would think as often as he sues KISS, there would have been pictures of him appearing in court for at least one of those cases (especially when he's represented himself), but no luck there, either, on Google.

I wonder if he's hypersensitive about his appearance now as compared to back in his heyday. I think had he not been so reclusive the past 20 years and maintained somewhat of a public persona, we would have seen him age naturally with the rest of us and it wouldn't be such a visual shock to see his current appearance as compared to his 80s look. I mean, Gene Simmons has definitely had time march on all over his face as well, but because he's been in the public eye the entire time, it just seems like a natural occurrence.

I'll always be partial to his more understated LIU look. I understand why he adopted the wigged and made up look after KISS...I just didn't particularly care for it on VV. I loved it on, say, Motley Crue (80s Vince Neal was all sorts of gorgeous), but I always thought VV looked better in his more natural state.

I'd love to see what he really looks like now without that fright wig and without having been barricaded in his house for hours avoiding the cops. Just a natural "Vinnie on the street" picture.

KMD is right, Vinnie has been out of the picture for so long that his look might be a shock for some people.

I agree. His own hair much better. Everyone used to give him a hard time about not having thick hair and obviously this turned into an issue. I think his real hair looked perfect but hair metal was about big hair but I can think of many guys with hair like vv that also looked cool. Too bad. Vv has actually worn a wig on all his 3 major album releases. Liu, vvi and asg
