I didn't a quick search to make sure I wasn't beating a dead horse. I noticed this had been discussed a little, but not at much length.

Why do you guys think Vinnie didn't sing lead vocals for Invasion? I'm sure we've all heard the demos and know Vinnie has a great voice. I'm extremely curious why he didn't want to be the frontman.

I have my theories:

I think it was insecurity. As a musician myself, I know that most exceptionally talented musicians are EXTREMELY insecure. They constantly get praised for their talent and at some point get overwhelmed with the compliments and start to fear they won't live up to the hype.

There is a possibility that Vinnie wanted to sing but the record company said "no". I'm don't think that is the case. We've all seen how if Vinnie wants to do something, he's gonna do it. We've also seen that (at the time) Vinnie LOVED the spotlight. I honestly think he wanted to and probably seriously considered it, but was afraid he'd fail.

What are YOUR thoughts on the topic?

No problem, i always think about it, he had (or has) a great powerful but really cool voice but he was always looking
for that annoying high note singer, well he never said why but his voice was PERFECT for his music.

I think that he wanted the super high, over the top vocals to go with the music. He didn't want to have his tamer sound on there.

Big mistake, but i get the picture

Good point. The over the top vocals are definitely congruent with the flashy guitar playing. He may have also thought singing might get in the way of his playing. It's hard to improvise a lick here and there during the verse if you're focused on what you're singing.

That too, he probably wanted to concentrate on the playing and not try and do both live.

My theory:

Wanted to be known as a shredder and couldn't see the big picture.

Also way too influenced by Zeppelin.
