One thing I have always found interesting about Dana is this.

He was instrumental in other large acts in finding replacement members, like Ozzy with Randy Rhoads etc. He was even playing bass in that band while they found a full time member.

He's on the scene, everyone knows him, he knows everyone etc.

So whose wagon does he hook himself up to?

Vinnie's and he becomes a member of The Vinnie Vincent Invasion.

Yes, on the back of Vinnie's involvement with Kiss, and probably especially due to the turbulent nature of his Kiss tenure, the VVI get quite a bit of press and did some cool tours opening for Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden.

The VVI did struggle though, but it was sadly all over in it's infancy and surely would have gone from strength to strength had Vinnie kept going, Ala Malmasteen, rather than falling into obscurity and being best known for failed lawsuits now.

Dana was not too kind on his VVI days after the breakup and subsequent formation of Slaughter, but during his time in the band he was positive and said good things.

I am left wondering why he even joined up with Vinnie? Did nobody else want him? Did he try to form bands of his own?

My theory is Dana owned part of vvi. This would explain why he seemed to be involved in the capital records reissues and why vvi broke up. It's a guess but would make sense

My thoughts too.

Possibly. Remember though that Dana supposedly had to negotiate Slaughter "taking over " VVI's contract. It's not like they called it the Vinnie Vincent Invasion anymore. Since the record company basically fired Vinnie, I think Dana worked out a deal for the VVI albums. WHO KNOWS??? It all sounds possible.

chances are Dana got VV the contract in the first place and he may have been rewarded with a share in VVI. Again its a guess. Could have been a clause that if Dana leaves VVI are no longer.

the only thing that is against this is that Vinnie did not co-write tunes with Dana and I think if he had some sort of control over Vinnie he may have demanded to write or co-write a little. But he did get to producer and from what rockmom says they were in the studio without vinnie at certain times in post-production at least.
