This week Aaron and Chris celebrate the 4 year anniversary of Decibel Geek with an in-depth conversation with Mark Slaughter. Currently promoting his new solo album produced by Michael Wagener, ‘Reflections in a Rearview Mirror‘ Mark was kind enough to sit down in-person with Aaron, Chris, and Decibel Geek writer Billy Hardaway for a long-form talk on the new album, the history of Slaughter, and A LOT of discussion about his days working with Vinnie Vincent in the Invasion.
*Note from Chris* There is a TON of VV talk in this episode and I set out to answer a lot of longtime questions from VV fans. Thanks to a few of you that helped suggest questions. Hope you enjoy!

Mark was pretty open. Hope you ordered more than just an "ice water", Chris?!?!?!?! Waitress was super polite too!

Actually I was several beers in as I was drinking at a bar before we met up with Mark. I had asked for a Rebel IPA at this place and they didn't have it. Rather than drink some domestic garbage, I decided I'd had enough. Honestly, after several beers it didn't make much of a difference as I was getting sick as a dog that day and was laid out pretty bad for a week after we recorded this lol.

Overall he was cool about vv. I think he is a good guy. He was only 24 years old in vvi. Interesting his take on things. I bet vv would never agree that he asked mark if he was with him or Dana. Whatever vv said I still think the vocals on asg were along with vocals on invasion were some of the best vocal performances of the 80s.

I think Vinnie was just being a diva, precious and lazy.

Na, man, you don't understand Vic. The power of the shred can pretty much kill mere mortals.
Combining that with excessive masturbation....well, right there, that's just a COCKtail for disaster.
Luck the poor guy can still breath & blink @ the same time, let alone walk up stairs.
gee-sh!! That's just crazy talk "
walkin' up stairs???". Well, I'll be.
...Cut the man some slack, will ya.

I guess they don't play vvi stuff because most audiences don't know it or expect it. Would be cool if they do play ashes to Ashes live.
Crazy vv openley ripped off Rik fox. Rik also blames Dana though

Great Job Chris and Aaron!. It has taken me a while to respond as at 108 minutes it took me about 5 or 6 listening sessions to finish the interview. As you said Mark was a class act and dodged no questions. i think that we learned some things and yes it was confirmed that the riff for Let Freedom Rock was snatched! Now if only Vinnie could get himself well and and come on and tell his side of all the stories just as candidly. I would be fine if he just said that he had entered a dark place and made many mistakes but that he is back now. Kind of live forward and try to sin no more
Once again this was another outstanding interview and you should be proud of your work and what you have accomplished!
