Not sure how it is in Germany, but over here, residents are usually not allowed to leave on their own. Given the rate of dementia, it is likely many would get lost and not be able to find their way back.

Wifey and I visit the local nursing home on holidays and take flowers, stuffed animals, etc.

Before I moved, I used to do an acoustic set at the local nursing home a couple of times per month and sometimes would even take my digital piano. Once I can get unpacked, I plan to do the same here.

Luckily, the ones I associate with, are really nice and there are zero signs of mistreatment. So many of these people in the homes, do not have anybody, or at least anybody that cares. I know that if I outlive my wife and I have to go to a nursing home, I would be among those who do not have anybody. Maybe some of you youngsters can come and bust me out and take me to a concert.

I love news with happy endings! Glad them old metal heads were able to go back, heh.
