The first time I heard this song, it was track #1 on Paul Dean’s solo album Hard Core. Was surprised years later to find it was a KISS demo before that.

Wolfi have you heard Bonfire's version ? German band . This was 1987 or 88 with Ken Mary of Alice cooper and house of lords on the drums

Why does everyone go gaga over this tune ?
Granted , it is better than a few songs on the album but it's Paul's attempt at writing a song for a Rocky movie.
Imagine Kiss recording ASG instead of CN...

I like the song but agree, I don’t think it’s aged very well. It does have a bit of that 80’s movie soundtrack cheese to it, and the Bonfire version was on the Wes Craven’s Shocker sountrack. It was interesting listening to all three of these versions back to back, and it’s hard to tell which I like the best. Paul Dean’s version is really distinct and interesting, though his pre-chorus really has that St. Elmo’s Fire vibe — Paul Stanley’s pre-chorus is the least so. The guitar solos in the KISS and Bonfire versions are superior.

Actually, the monotone vocal delivery of Paul Dean works and is less movie soundtrack sounding.

Speaking of Rocky soundtrack songs, I had the pleasure of seeing Robert Tepper do an acoustic set a few years back, and he still sounds fantastic. Met him later and he’s a super nice, down to earth guy. His songs from Rocky IV and Cobra were always my favorites, right along with the Survivor contributions.
