Really good interview. There's been a ton of speculation that Vinnie hasn't written or recorded any new songs, he can't play. But Faysal sets the record straight. Those people are all wrong in their assumptions.
I know people attack Neil Davis and claim he made up Vinnie practicing. I don't think Neil was lying. I think Vinnie was practicing for that show.
For whatever reason, it seems Vinnie's OCD perfectionism screws things up. He should have been letting people hear snippets (at least) of new material. He should have posted videos of him playing wonderfully (not that crap that he did at CreaturesFest).
Is it mental illness that he can't do it when there is a big crowd?
I remember Mitch L posting about he got to listen to new Vinnie songs and people blasted him for being a liar.
People also acted like Vinnie was leeching off Faysal and using his studio. Which he wasn't. How was Vinnie affording to use Starstruck studios all the time? This interview just brings up alot more questions. But it also sure shoots down some big whoopers people were saying about Vinnie, Neil and others.
If Vinnie ever releases anything, maybe he should use the title "Asylum".
