Kiss and the knuckle heads
Re: Kiss and the knuckle heads
Haha, I guess Mark's KISS character could've been "The Robot"... or "The Cyborg!"

Don't get me wrong. I like what I hear when listening to his playing and am confident that it is technically difficult to perform.
It's kind of like listening to Ace. I love Ace. But Ace plays exactly the same way (phrasing? style?) regardless of whether it's a pop song, metal song, acoustic song, etc. Mark is the same way. He did a really cool New Orleans Jazz-type song on Magic Bullet and the solos still sound like they could be a solo he'd do for a metal song.
With Vinnie and Bruce, they can change it up and do melodic, shred, classical, pop, etc. (I'd bet Vinnie could do a killer country solo!)

Open your window and see the real world
To know what you've been missing
Come out of the shadows
Insecurity lies
In a heart afraid to listen
